This is so surprisingly fitting. Army played a straight forward solid crowd pleaser capitalizing on their larger bass line and thus fuller sound while Navy played far more technically focusing on individual sounds to create diversity. So basically Army huah overrun the enemy with infantry and tanks Vs. Navy technicians and engineers operating ships and submarines... Even the drumlines exhibit the cultural differences between the services. Cool how that played out.
@bobbart64982 жыл бұрын

As an Army veteran, and a University trained jazz drummer, the Army drum line is sophmoric. Nothing they played met Navy's standard of technicality and difficulty. The Army: HS charts? 😂😂😂😂

Takes me back to my bootcamp days! I was in a 900 division(917-2010) and we were a triple threat. Band, drill, and choir. Best damn band! I was one of 3 Drum Majors. Damn i miss those days. #GoNavyBeatArmy

They all are very good. In the end they all play for the same band. I imagine that my grandfather's who were WWII vet's would agree with me.

The Army truly sounded more rhythmic and more lose like they're having fun. The second round the Navy loosen up and played more like they were playing for fun.

They came together at the end and did a collaboration that was unexpected ive never seen an army navy drum line battle so at the end they are still one team one side I like it

True story: the drummer who started all this was a Marine at Camp Pendleton in 1977. Came rushing into the room of my Marine Corps Band buddy and said "Hey! Listen to this!" and started playing and using the rim on purpose and the desk and the back of a chair to bang out exactly what I'm hearing here. Impressive performances and talent. Cymbal thing was a bit uncalled for, considering the Navy were in uniform. Still: Navy took it. #crayoneater #SFMF #ArmyNavyDrumlines

Navy was more musical than Army, but Army had some amazing bass drum runs. Great job both. As a former Drill Team member of the Navy, I'm going to give a slight edge to the Navy Team.

I remember when the Army-Navy game used to take place in November and Super Bowl taking place in January but ever since 9/11 these schedules have been off: Army-Navy takes place in December and the Super Bowl takes place in February.

As a devout band nerd before being an Army vet, my vote goes to Navy for sound but army had less mistakes. I spent years in the box looking and listening (critiquing) and there were too many Navy mishaps. They made their mistakes less obvious than the Army though. This brought warmth and joy to my heart!

as someone in marching band throughout high school, i enjoyed this immensely! as soon as they started, i was kicked straight back to the football stands and pep rallies where we would do the school dance, the Bootydrop. thanks for sharing this video! i loved every moment! (especially the Army parts. even though that guy's arm was in a sling, they still made a place for him to join in on the fun! no man left behind!)
