God this episode was one Train Wreck after another! XD Oh and Josh, those WERE adult Ghost Leviathans you saw in the grand reef. There are 3 Adult Ghosts on the map (2 in the Grand Reef, 1 in the Norther Blood Kelp Zone) and they're roughly twice the size of a Reaper, but according to the lore _Ghost Leviathans keep growing larger until they die,_ and when you're that big there isn't a lot that can take you off the census besides Age or Starvation.

Real suggestion guys. Look into the upgrades for the cyclops. I feel like you're missing some important ones, in particular the depth module for it. It can go almost the same depth as the prawn eventually.

Recommend, reinforced walls all along the bottom big room Couple of windows on top, moon pool connected into the brine with reinforced walls In the bottom room, a bioreactor with melon fuel, and another bioreactor with fish fuel 3 power cell chargers (reason for 2 bioreactors) and 2 battery chargers, Your stasis gun on you at all times, your going to want to make multiple thermal reactors in the near future if you want to make another base in the next area Most importantly, find the blueprint for ion battery, I think the first one is in the lost river, or in the next areas

FYI, if you build an Alien Containment and put two of the same fish in it (for example 2x Reginalds), over time, they will multiply; the reason I gave Reginalds as an example is that they provide the highest nutrition of ANY fauna in the game when cooked (+44 Food, and +4 Water), or when cured (+44 Food, and -2 Water), and are the second most efficient source of energy for a Bioreactor (they take up a single slot, and provide 490 power, EACH; they are only surpassed by the Oculus, which can only be found in the "Purp Cave" area, but give 630 each), also, you can STACK Alien Containments in multi-level bases, making them bigger AND increasing the amount of fish you can have inside by 10 each Just to put into context how much energy the Reginalds will provide; filling the whole 16 slots with Reginalds will give your base 7,840 energy! Just something to help; enjoy the sinkhole that is base building in Subnautica, lol

26:57 This took me forever to get right, I initially stacked them one bit too high and so I couldn't use ladders to connect the floors... Fortunately I fixed it and now my main base consists of one ground level large room, followed by a pair of 3 large rooms stacked on top of each other, each with 3 Alien Containments... all powered by a single Nuclear Reactor! I am rather proud of myself in that I was actually able to bring all the materials I'd need for the initial construction of my base (translation: I stuffed pretty much everything useful in my Cyclops and dragged it all the way to the Blood Kelp Forest entrance) in my first trip to the Blood Kelp Forest

I bought this game in Early Access, it took me 2 years to play more than a few minutes at a time. Seeing Josh go on a similar journey to confront his Thalassophobia as well, and see how amazing this game is, and how the ocean can be beautiful is nice. I went snorkling last year, and the only reason I could was because of this game. I hope Josh gets similar healing.

You Josh are a perfect example of what NOT to do when base building (forgetting all these steps and dealing with the consequences, plus not doing more power for existing bases), doing exploration (not keeping an eye on your water/food/oxygen meters at all times, rather than "oh shit, we're almost out!"), and managing general vehicle aspects in Subnautica ^It's valuable information, understandable given your phobia, and great for our entertainment value, but I'm just saying :P

The blueberry tree biome (Grand reef) Never feels to shake me a little. Ive beaten the game 3 times and encountered many foes at this point but the feeling of scanning sonar and finding out theres a ghost right on top of you will always spook me. And yet i love the deep grand reef because the crabsquid is my favorite creature in the series. (you can get crabsquid eggs btw)

I'm honestly amazed Josh didn't try to shoot the Ghosties in the Grand Reef..... yes plural there are 2. For future reference, Silent Running increases your power consumption by, I think, 8x and that includes idling drain. The good news is that if you look to the lower right when piloting the Cyclops you have a proximity radar, the orb that blooms from the model is your noise (read "agro range") so you can see when something is likely to notice you. The slower you move the better, and you can just make like a hole in the water and stuff won't attack you by cutting your engines. Oh, and the shield module costs 5% just to activate it and then it's 4x drain. I'd, personally, recommend swapping the fire suppression for the thermal reactor, literally just onboard power generation at these depths, as soon as possible too but you need to go deeper for that hotness.

There are atleast 4 Hot Vents directly in the Tree-Cave. There is no need to install a Powergrid. But i guess it makes sense that you didnt saw them. So far you only swam in maybe 15% of the Tree-Cave. But hey.... you actually utilized the best renewable Powersource in the Game. Thats the point that counts XD Maybe your personal backseatgamer will see it for you ;) Hmmm... sometimes i wonder how many Player find the 3rd Diving Suit in the Game. Radiation-suit and Reinforced Suit are pretty standard. Pro-Tipp: A decently equipped Base can be carried in your inventory and a double-Storage Moth..... or a Prawn. But Moth is a lot fast, thats why i used that to build my Tree-Cave Base and expanded from there.

So! During the little tidbit where Josh was inside of the base towards the end and it was flooded, he ended up going hyper speed, for some reason. And I think I've figured out what happened; somehow, Josh accidentally enacted a glitch, wherein the game thinks you are simultaneously walking and swimming at the same time, therefore stacking the speed of both. And this seems to happen inside flooded bases, from what I can gather. Pro is right, Josh accidentally stumbled into speedrun strats!

After getting your new main base set up, definitely make sure to try and get the Thermal Reactor for the Cyclops crafted. It'll allow you to bypass the sub's power problems entirely in hot zones. After that? Stasis Rifle + Thermoblade killing spree time!
