An in-depth but very brief critique of Army of Two for the Xbox 360. I'm no expert in air craft carrier design, but I think you should seriously consider subscribing to the channel.

I miss games like this. Customize your gun with bling bling and a shield. Getting dragged by your coop mate when you are hit. Funny game

The procedural animations are really impressive for its time. Lifting up your arms when your partner blocks especially is great. There's a very unique feeling here - a hybrid between Soldier Of Fortune and Ghost Recon which I love. I think if this game was released now, and had the Helldivers 2 shooting and movement, but kept its coop mechanics, adding to them, it would bop the fuck up. Also, unlike Kane & Lynch: Dead Man, at least gameplay wise, it's not a chore to play, it's repetitive and linear af, but there's good variety.

The pimped option for guns really confirms that it's meant to be silly and not serious at all One of the things you can fo with your teammate is play air guitar and scream about how "ladies lift your shirts'

I used to play this game a lot Co-Op around 2011-2012. I dread that if i play it now i may ruin some nostalgia for myself. This video however was a pretty cool wave of nostalgia as soon as i but looked at the thumbnail. Thank you for that my friend.

Reaident Evil 5 and Army of Two are the very definition of what I expect from a co op game. The level of character/player interaction with each other still gets left out of so many games its a fucking crime. I would gladly watch a 40th day and devils cartel review if you would be so inclined!

Great video as always. Only played some of Army of 2 as an adult through Xbox’s backwards compatibility, but as a kid, my Dad and I played so much of the 40th Day. That game was incredible, had so many fun action set pieces, had great customization, and was a great bonding experience. My Dad and I were so excited when The Devil’s Cartel came out. We were sorely disappointed.

5:04 I'm not sure why but to this day I still say "fuck-o" because of this cutscene. This definitely didn't have a lasting impact on games or anything, but I still think about Army of Two more than I should

Imo EA should reboot Army of Two. I loved the original & 40th Day, but The Devil's Cartel butchered Rios & Salem, and omitted mechanics that gave Army of Two its identity. Plus no multiplayer. The customization was still solid tho. On another note, did bro compare this to EDF?! I like Gears for its story & characters, but wish the customization wasn't just cosmetics.

As someone who never played this game,I do love both the goofiness and mechanics. USA going full militech on its army in 2001due 9/11, to the pimping the gun drawin agro and the dialogue is beautiful Then the mechanics, from dragging your down teammate, feign death are great, but my favorite idea is the agro system if players have two opposite playstyle it actually benefits them instead of having negative effects. I also like the stupidity of back to back, reminds me of that goofy scene from the begining of Bad Boys 2

I loved this game. It was apologetically "gamey", it didn't give a single fuck, it was just fun and arcadey. Playing this with my best friend in high school is still some of my fondest high school memories, it's just top notch co-op gameplay. I thought the aggro system was great for it's time and the back to back set pieces were really cool novelties. I also enjoyed getting all the unlocks for your appearance and weapons. It just feels like a game like this would never be made in today's market, and that's an absolute shame. While I did enjoy the sequel, it wasn't as good imo. I would love a remake of this and then a potential reboot of the sequel.

The 40th Day is legit one of my favorite games. There just really aren’t enough games that capture that tense and satisfying moment-to-moment combat with such crazy good balance! Like dude, don’t get me wrong, you’re an overpowered merc as you should be, as the story has built you up to be (especially after the first game), and you can definitely take any individual enemy or small group with no sweat. But the game regularly funnels you through these killzones where it’s legit you and your homie against a small platoon, and it’s a challenge! But a DANG FUN ONE!! Being able to use your own weight as you sprint head-first into a dude and watch him flop like a sack of puppies, the strangely fantastic weapon accuracy (especially when firing in bursts) leading to dismemberment with surgical precision, sheer amount of punishment you can really take… It can be a challenge, even frustrating, but it’s a game that I’ve played through to 100% at least three times (all difficulties, unlocking everything in the store, etc) and I would undoubtedly do it again and again. Especially with a mouse and keyboard if EA ever grants the series a much-needed port. For the first game… It’s good fun, particularly in co-op, but it frequently feels unbalanced and a tad too frustrating. I am pretty bad, but after having as much experience as I had over the years, beating it on the highest difficulty should not have felt so bitter. The Devil’s Cartel… disrespectful and too far removed, but I am still able to find some fun in it. Definitely too grindy if you wanna go for 100%, and not nearly fun and satisfying enough to earn that. Would be MUCH better on PC, as would they all :3 edit: Christ dude, watching your gameplay reminds me of exactly why I was so obsessed with this game all those years ago ;w; It’s definitely a game full of wannabe tacticool elements, goofy story beats and physics, and just such unashamed DUMB FUN. I’ve been fortunate enough to spend some time in co-op, but definitely not as much as I’d have liked… As far as third-person shooters go, this series is one of my favorites. Definitely beats GoW, almost catches up to the Battlefronts, etc etc. I pray EA gives it some more love and attention someday :c

Hey Dorkaxe, what game have you played that you can remember having readily available player call in airstrikes? I've recently played Helldivers 2 and I've been having a blast with the orbitals and eagles strikes, but I personally prefer more single player games and this game really does not favor solo play. I've watched your Earth Defense Force 4.1 video and bought it even though I just lost the steam sale and looking forward to some bug slaying shenanigans with that game, and it got me thinking what other games out there have airstrikes? I remember mercenaries back in the ps2 days and mercenaries 2 which butchered the enjoyment of bombarding enemies because of the fuel mechanic, but can't really think of any other games out there that you can call in airstrikes.
@Dorkaxe
@Dorkaxe 6 ай бұрын
That's a good question. The only thing I can think of that you didn't mention is the Call of Duty games online for killstreaks, but those aren't exactly...uhh...the best example lol. I think I'd count the Hammer of Dawn as an airstrike of sorts, so maybe Gears of War?
@Mister5597
@Mister5597 6 ай бұрын
@@Dorkaxe Yeah... what a lack of airstrikes in video games huh... I played Gears 5 this week and did get to remember how the Hammer of Dawn works but its quite limited in terms of player availability given how rare this mechanic is. Call of Duty killstreaks certainly fits with how many you could use back in the modern warfare days, but quite unfair for the enemy team and rare in the campaign. I remembered there was this game called Vietcong 2 which had a coop mode that had classes and one of them was the Radioman that actually had either an artillery or airstrike, I can't quite remember exactly and can't even find a video of it. Some other games could have an artillery or airstrike as a form of a weapon like the Delta Force series which gave you a Laser Designator to call in 2 airstrikes to deal with specific objectives. But fresh in memory really only Helldivers, EDF Air Raider and Mercenaries actually had a fleshed out airstrikes and artillery system that is fun to use in regular play.
