This legendary story is about Sgt. BILL FOULK
Sgt. Bill Foulk was an Army Ranger at Fort Lewis, Washington, when he purchased a cheap house in a rough Tacoma neighborhood as an investment in 1989.
Foulk grew concerned that a house on Ash Street, his block, was infested with gang activity. He purchased his own house for $10,000 ($20,875 in 2019 dollars), with the idea that property values would rise.
He began to videotape the people who visited the suspected drug house. He wasn't wrong. The occupants were members of the Crips, the violent street gang that was spreading from California to Washington in search of new markets for drugs.
Foulk told The Associated Press that gang members began to threaten him when they noticed he was filming their movements. When he feared that the gang was about to take action against him, he called friends from the 2nd Ranger Battalion to his house to have a "BBQ" and be present in case the house was attacked.
Just after the Rangers arrived on Sept. 23, 1989, some 15 to 20 gang members began to shoot up the 32-year-old's house while his buddies were inside. Luckily, the Rangers had brought their own personal weapons to the BBQ. The Crips were surprised when their would-be victim's house began to return fire and ran for their lives.

What’s more dangerous than 6 rangers at a BBQ? Interrupting said BBQ with 6 rangers at it. That’s the Webster’s definition of FAFO.

I actually remember watching that on the news, the ABC news said that the rangers attacked first! 😂 Grandpa knew that was a lie because, he was a ranger in WW2 and said rangers only attack first when at war! 😊

The little wannabee gangsters, thinking they're tough, must have had quite a surprise when they encountered a damn army ranger.

The police officers were probably just scared. Would you go there almost alone, when you don’t have nearly enough backup. 😅 It’s unfair, that the man got punished for defending himself. 🥲 At least he caused the police to change and made the neighborhood safer! 😊 Those were real friends! 😳❤️ Thank you for reacting to this! ❤😊

In fairness when people have already called the police before abd were told to do ur own neighbourhood watch ur not going to have much faith in them coming to help u in that situation..now I know at that time there wasn't enough police resources there

Has the fire electrician says you never know who you're dealing with it could be a little old man eating ice cream the man putting the flag up in his front yard or your friendly neighborhood mailman or just some guy that wants you to stop selling drugs in front of his house. Put all these men have one thing in common they they have plot armor you know if you know

Actually, the National Guard is never intentionally trained for duty overseas, though they can and have been deployed during war time. Their intended purpose is for emergency use in their state. This does include the institution of and inforcement of martial law.

Very interesting so the National guards are basically 50 mini confederations of military units which can be federalism, in which case is under the command of the President and subject to ROE. When used by a governor a specific national guard unit is restricted by their state laws but generally since they are not allowed to use force to enforce domestic policies, there are probably pretty strict rules in most states regarding use of force.

Speaking on the National Guard and use of force: during hurricane Hugo, we were issued ammo, and a piece to place under the pistol grip to limit to semiautomatic only.
