Gunfire. Screams. Explosions. Things that drive ordinary people away. In the mind of the extraordinary Craighead they must have registered with “someone is playing my tune” and he headed for the dance floor, outnumbered but on the offensive. He dared. He won. Says so on the badge he wore.

There were US citizens in the hotel. Meyli Chapin was one of them that wrote a book about her experience and on meeting Christian Craighead after the event to thank him. She has done some KZbin interviews. I believe Christian lives in the US now.

0:54 I was at work (here in England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿) doing IT support and repairs and I spoke to a man, I…by chance said something about the SAS (I love the SAS…absolute legends) and the man had a grin on his face. Turns out he was one of the Operators who made entry in Operation Nimrod. We had a brilliant chat…he actually came back to bring me a signed copy of his book and photos that were taken of him by metropolitan police snipers from the rooftops across the street…they’re photos I haven’t seen anywhere before, taken through the sights of the rifle. I feel so lucky to have met him and shaken that total legends’ hand. I made a point of telling him that not everyone has the pathetic attitude where anyone in the forces are criticised and b*tched about. I let him know that no! There are many people who still have pride in our Nation and pride in the people who keep us safe as he has done. Never thought I’d be able to give one of these guys a call. 🇬🇧 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

There is no such Regiment in our British Army what the American commentator meant was The Parachute Regiment where many SAS Operator's come from. The SAS are the best and oldest Special Forces on the planet with also The SBS ( Special Boat Service) then comes the SRR ( Special Reconnaissance Regiment) then the other British Special Forces units. The best of all the unit' is in the SAS is E Squadron better known as The Increment who are the most top Secret unit who nothing is known about like there operations or what they do or where they have been, they are the most Classified unit and what they do is under National Secret and bloody right as well. Personally I would rather like to see that anything that our British Special Forces what they do and anything about them kept a National and international secret and not put out to the General Public. 💂‍♂️💂‍♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

There have been a few cases where SF have acted without authority. If its successful the military and Govt turn a blind eye. If it were to fail, then deniability and blame will follow.

What Popo didn't mention was the serious accident he had while in the Parachute Regiment, thrown out the back of a Land Rover in a traffic collision, he suffered numerous broken and fractured bones including 10 vertebrae and 7 ribs, he spent 3 weeks in a coma. When in Iraq with the Pathfinders, he was shot in the arm by a sniper, and had to have his humerus bone replaced with a titanium rod.

The reason the SAS are clouded in secrecy is because unlike the US, the British don't constantly boast about themselves and we hold our cards close to our chests. No pep talks or oorah's. we just get on with it and then have a cup of tea. My Dad was a WW2 veteran and always said "We always knew where the Yanks were because we could hear them from 1/4 of a mile away. unfortunately, so could the Germans".

Most of the soldiers sent over by the British were essentially hired mercenaries, mainly Hessians from Bavaria and many did not speak english. Quite a few stayed after the war and became citizens. Just a fun fact!😊

Operation Jericho was the Amiens prison break (blowing down the walls) - not Norway. Their first combat op was as Pathfinders in the 1000 bomber raid of Cologne in May 42. The Mosquito movie "633 Squadron" is an abiding childhood memory. The mosquito was also a very beautiful plane - and it was also incredibly adaptable - photo recce, bomber - including the Highball bouncing bomb, night fighter, fighter bomber - bombs or rockets, torpedo bomber and personal favourite the Teste Mosquito with its Molins "6-pounder Class M" cannon: this was a modified QF 6-pounder (57 mm) anti-tank gun! U-boats really hated that one.

My Dad was a Sniper in the P.P.C.L.I. for Canada in WWII, and he was a fierce man. He always got me to do the most outrageously funny things in my formative years growing up, with his mind-set and hilariously out of context teachings, lol. He would tell stories of sitting down at a fire with a group of Gurkhas sitting cross legged and throwing a ball of dough back and forth, eventually becoming a flat pita-like bread product cooked on heated rocks. They gave my Dad and his buddy some, and then rolled on the ground laughing until they cried, when whatever deathly hot spices kicked in and had the two hapless Canucks racing for buckets of water, hahaha. Or: why I shouldn't tie my boot laces a certain way, because that's how the Germans did theirs, and: "The Gurkhas would sneak into camps at night and feel for that lace pattern of the sleeping men's boots, and [fill in possible censored act here] if they were not done up our way" Or: "Never put your socks inside your boots after taking them off, because Scorpions like the warmth and will go in them." We were in the far North of British Columbia and it was near 50 below zero, when he would teach me these things to live by LOL. Loved Pops.

So in summary: Washington gets bored with the amusements his slaves can offer him, goes off with a few friends and scalps a French Lt., one evening, for shits and giggles. The French and their Dutch pals are upset by the young man's actions, and a World War kicks off, that costs the King / Britain he swore an oath to, £70m, and many a life, then when asked to cover cost of stopping the French taking his scalp, and slaves, says FU, to the King he swore an oath to. As do a few friends of his, and commit an atrocity by dumping much tea into Boston harbour, every civilised person knows it's tea then boiling water. An associate, property speculator, newspaper man, deed forger, and successor of Washington's, prints many a fake wanted posters, offering British Government cash for every Indian scalp brought in, to free more land to have planted, upsetting the New England scalpers who's efforts are unrewarded by the British tax payer, and possibly the scalped natives, and future African workforce. Some other freeloading friends steal some British tax payer purchased guns, supplies, properties, as they ain't paying no taxes, or buying their own, like those limee fools. A British army turns up and kicks ass, Washington goes crawling to the French and Spanish, asking for help, while not mentioning his role in the earlier conflict, where they got their asses kicked, and lost much territory and treasure, thanks to his jape. With his new best friend's help, and a few Scots, kills many more Brits, and costs the British tax payer many more beer tokens. His white male friends think this is wonderful, and make him the President of the New England, tax evading, tea defiling, ten pin bowling, and slavers association. Then after hanging out with his pale friends for a few years, retires to the comforts his slaves can supply him, free from all taxes or possibility of prosecution for historic sins, setting a precedent, for ex-presidents.

Lord Beaverbrook wasn't a politician, he was a Newspaper magnate. He and Churchill got on along very well. Beaverbrook's job was to ensure that the RAF had the planes and engines to defend the UK. The period in which this took place was during and after the Battle of Britain. England needed every aircraft and engine it could get its hands on. The UK government had placed an order worth $130 million with Packard to build Merlin engines. The first one ran in August 1941. Engines were precious and there were many other new aircrafts being developed which could have done with the Merlin.
