I'm from this part of Michigan and you're 100% correct. The funniest part is people will come home afterwards and say "sorry I'm late, I had to help a guy who was lost which took a little while" like it was an absolute requirement. I'm pretty sure it's because every one of us has been stuck in a snowbank at some point and one of the unwritten rules is that, if you see someone stuck, you have to slow down and ask if they need help. People also talk about that like an annoyance as well which is great. "Sorry I'm late, I had to help some idiot out of a snowbank" is a perfectly acceptable excuse to almost anything. The best part is when you get the people driving small cars with no tow straps or chance in hell of being able to pull the other car out who still stop and offer help in the way of a shovel or offer to use their phone. Those people are great because 9 out of 10 times they drive by again later to make sure you made it out ok.

Hey friend, I used to have nightmares and really bad sleep paralysis. Now I turn on KZbin stories or a comedy show or something to play continuously while I sleep. It helps a LOT. On more stressful days I already know whatever I’m obsessing about will manifest into a nightmare in my brain, I’ll download an audiobook and let it play so even when I wake up it’s kinda like a grounding thing. I hope this helps! Oh and counting pulls me right out of sleep paralysis. Normally I don’t even make it to 20!
