It is not a glorification of war, it is appreciation of an individual who risked life and limb and very nearly lost it all in the name of his nation. The fact of the matter is, he risked his life for what he believes in, and that is noble.

No one's disputing that they shouldn't have honored the guy and allowed him to throw the first pitch, but the way he did it was tasteless. I would expect some teenager to think it was funny throwing a first pitch like that, not an army vet who had experienced war and should have reverence for it, and the lives lost on both sides in any conflict.

@@c3dmf4s Individuals members of the military are not intrinsically agents of the MIC. You people dont quite understand that this guy was injured mentally from war. He did what he wanted and no one stopped him because of that and it would be totally rude and irresponsible too boo at this guy and it would definitely make him feel bad if no one cheered. We arent glorifying war, we are glorifying the absence of war that allows this man to live his life after facing near-death experiences (something most of you cant do). He survived wars (which were caused by reasons, good and bad) and now we celebrate the living who served our country so proudly. Also, dont judge the many (US citizens) by the actions of a few (politicians).

Whoever posted this just made a mistake. Civilians don't know the difference between any of us -- Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, Airmen, or Coast Guardsmen -- so I'm sure it was not meant as a slight. Although a very proud Soldier (101st ABN, C/326th Med Bn; Persian Gulf War vet), I would not have cared as I consider all veterans and active duty troops one thing -- Comrades. Besides, I think the important thing is that this wounded brother-in-arms was able to have a special moment and perhaps inspire others. Yes, branch is important to us, but this is about more than that in my humble view.

Keyboard warriors. Keyboard warriors for as far as the eye can see. These comments are despicable. Talking down on a man who served for your right to do so, and before you go on a rant about "the military is filled with rapists and murderers," try and take in the facts. Not every service member fights. Not every service member has seen combat. So your 1960's hippy view of war is irrelevant. As for all the conspiracists on this page? Why? For all we know those spewing hate are the brainwashed ones. Brainwashed to believe all military members are rapists and murderers. I more afraid of you than I am of them! Why? Because your diluted way of thinking endangers the betterment if humanity as a whole. You guys are so caught up on "down with the man" that your forget the reason why "the man" is there in the first place. I'm sorry but I'd rather be around strong civilized people instead of getting naked and "getting in touch with ones inner self" via drugs. Before you say I have a stereotypical view on "liberal hippies" I've been invited on more than one occasion to one of these "self opening" groups. Ugh.. My seemingly pointless rant is over. Like this comment or tell me how I'm brainwashed, I don't fucking care. Go baseball, Semper Fi. My respect to you Sergeant.

Apparently people in America are incapable of making jokes according to the comments section. EDIT: Oh, and apparently when throwing a grenade, it ALWAYS is going after innocent people. Not a training dummy, not an evil person that needed to die. Nope. It ALWAYS goes towards an innocent person who didn't deserve it. God, I love you, comments section.

Just shows how hilariously brainwashed and small minded you are. An evil person? The world isn't that black and white. Each side of a war thinks the other is evil. The soldiers are men fighting and dying for their respective countries or beliefs. It's typically the higher-ups who send our countries to war who are the evil people, including the American government, and they aren't the ones receiving the explosion of shrapnel. It's good men on both sides that pay the ultimate price for evil.

CogniVision Heroism, "heroic conduct especially as exhibited in fulfilling a high purpose or attaining a noble end." This man has committed many acts of heroism and has paid the price for it. Can you say the same?
@geraldthegerbil9364
@geraldthegerbil9364 6 жыл бұрын
CogniVision Sure they did. They were hero's for something, but this man is ours so why cast him out? You in an earlier post were quick to say that good and bad are black and white terms aka relative terms. If so then you can't judge anyone.

I love the how the comments section generalize Americans. There's 300 million of us. Not all of us are the same. The "fascist warmogers" that you portray us to be represent an extremely tiny portion of the population. Is it so wrong for a man to have some fun? I guess it is true that people today are super sensitive. I shouldn't be surprised when feminazis and Christians with persecution complexes exist.

How Ugly We Are The crazy thing too is the US seems like it would be one of the hardest countries to generalize considering its diversity. Depending on what part of the country you are in there is a different stereotype. Not just east, west, north or south, but by state, and even what part of the state you are from.

+White Yaksha That extremely tiny portion of the population is clearly winning all the political battles to send the US to countless useless and needless wars (Makes me think it's not such a tiny portion after all). I feel bad that this man had to go through all that heartache and distress over a war that could have easily been prevented.

+Aleksia He's having some fun coming from a war that the 'fascists warmongers' sent him and thousands of others. The war(s) that many many Americans unfortunately still support, even though they have no idea of what's actually going on and why they are there in the first place. Heck, most wouldn't be able to locate the 140 countries the US has bases in these days.

+Kartkid024 Are you serious? What wars? Since WWII, the US has attacked more countries than the rest of the world combined. Vietnam, Korea, Cambodia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yugoslavia (first in the mid 90's then through 99), Panama, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Iran (help overthrow a democratically elected president), Chile (help overthrow a democratically elected president), Lybia, Phillippines, Honduras, Somalia. Shall I go on?

Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard. We are all part of the Armed Forces of the United States. The greatest fighting force in the world. I served in 3 different branches over my 22 year career and loved them all. So lets get off the "who better" debate. Every job is important, from the cooks to the special forces. We are all a cog in a machine. Take one away and it goes down. I salute you Brian Keaton and all who served honorably.
