I had no idea how often this happened. Then again I’m not a real avid baseball fan but sports injury has always interested me since in high school my anatomy teacher was also an athletic physical therapist (if that’s the right term) but the mechanism of injury in sports are usually incredibly brutal and uniquely severe. Feel bad for these players. Injuries must be especially developed because of the risk of severe injury changing their lives and ending their careers.

This season, J.T realmuto on the Phil’s was catching for Jeff Hoffman, dude pitched a low ball and it connected with J.T’s lateral in his ankle, no catchers gear whatsoever in the area. It looked pretty painful. He kept playing though since he’s used to being hit by his own pitchers now- Wheeler drilled him in the throat and took him out of the game about a month ago

My bachelors degree is in anthropology, my academic concentration was largely biological and forensic anthropology. Growth plate fractures are more likely to happen because growth plates are weaker and softer than the surrounding ligaments and tendons in a child's growing skeleton. These fractures can occur in long bones like the thigh bone, forearm bones, and bones in the hands and fingers, and are also known as Salter-Harris fractures. Some people in the MLB do end up with broken bones, that just isn't covered in this video.

Usually in baseball you can easily tell if a hit by pitch is intentional or not. If teams are trash talking eachother before and things are already tense, then the pitcher throws a fastball right to the batter then benches clear.
