Nigel, when I tell you I almost started crying towards the end there, I mean it. Because I know where you're coming from. BTS (And Stray Kids and Seventeen) found me too! They lifted my spirits when I was at my lowest, they helped me believe in myself again and I genuinely love every one of them. And I love watching you react as well. Because I feel like you give me a voice as well. I'm introverted by nature, so I'm not really able to come on KZbin and post videos of myself reacting, but you... you've captured my sentiments perfectly. You have become an important part of my happiness as well and I hope you know how loved and admired you are.

For people who are not familiar with twitter, there are some fanbases that collect and donate premium accounts to armys that are unable to help with the numbers of the boys. In addition to the voting campaign for the Korean awards that the members are competing with works, streamparty, projects to break new records, so twitter is still a very important place, because we organize ourselves better there and many people from other networks end up not knowing about these things that are happening. Following the right accounts, fanbases (watching out for solos) it's fun and productive to be there. by the way, great video rsrs' ☺

Hey Nigel I just wanna say that even if people don’t give CRAZY informative commentary I still search them out because it does feel like getting a friends opinion on something. I don’t have a lot of kpop friends irl that watch the same groups as me. But beyond that, even though i’m subscribed to you (and have been following you since your first reaction), I still search your channel at the beginning and end of everyday to watch your videos incase i missed it in my feed, because I enjoy your commentary style. While you don’t know me, I like how comfortable you are with the videos and you have helped make this such a comfortable. I don’t need to know you personally, that’s not needed, you are a youtuber and not my friend, but come off as a great person from how you behave on camera. I do want to say (genuinely) that I love your channel and your content, and you make me smile with every video you post. I don’t have a source of income, but once I do, if I have enough in my paycheck, I plan on becoming a patron.

about the color code videos.. I think she is not refearing about watching when you are understanding the lyrics.. but sometimes people are just listening to music and playing this videos instead of the original and thats when you lost the productive streaming time you could be having. also, the majority of new MVs now have subtitles.

yes, if you're getting to know the song that's fine but some people are using these videos to listen to the music in general which takes away from streams it's fine for people new to the song to understand who is singing/lyrics etc. the complaint is some of these videos have just as much as bts official videos and that isn't right once you know the song, listen to the official
@shanajeangedeon9060

It's also because they make money off of doing so, the tiny outro clips that they play are considered "original content" so they make money off of bts (they also sometimes don't translate the song correctly or get the members' parts wrong anyway because they are just rushing to have the content out fastest, most of those videos are made by people who do not know or even like the artists they "translate" for)

19:08 the issue is that a TON of guys like that are doing bts reactions now, all while being disrespectful, disingenuous, downright racist, or begging for patreon money/subs for their own “projects”. Shitty people pretending to “hear bts for the first time” for clicks and funds. It’s a very weird symptom of the bts KZbin space…

54:14 i agree. tbh idek what i would do if little me didn’t even think of listening to their music back in 2013. they honestly saved me. yeah a lot of people say that all the time but some ppl say it because they actually did. because BTS were their for them when they needed someone and to be heard from someone and that’s how i felt. i was heard from them and literally them telling my inner child that it’s gonna be ok because you have 7 teenage boys their for you. opening the ‘Magic Shop’ door for you and now being a 15 year old girl being with 7 men her whole life has been the happiest years i have ever been. and i wouldn’t even be here if it wasn’t for them. i love them. i appreciate them. i’m proud of them. i gave them my heart and soul to protect me from getting hurt. going through tough shit at a young age isn’t easy but them… god they made me realize so much things more than i wanted to be at rn. they thought me so many things i WISHED i was thought by my parent. i love my mom… but god i love and live for BTS.

I’ve seen comments on the colour coded videos, explaining how they take away views when watching them multiple times instead of streaming the original, but there’s a bigger problem with most of those videos. I’ve seen the KZbinr Landon Mark talk about this. At the end of the Lyric video there are often a few seconds of different music playing. That’s not an Outro song, these are „selfmade“ songs by the maker of the video. Their purpose is for the maker of the colour coded video to be able to claim the video as their own, based on the little original music clip. This way they not only steal views from BTS, but they also get monetised and therefore get paid for BTS songs. This is why we as army should avoid them.

21:59 your right, it happens all the time, but I also think that some ARMY realize when it’s someone that is genuine about BTS. They will go overboard with the negative comments, because that person might not know anything about BTS. But they treat them like they do know about BTS, they state facts that someone in ARMY would know and get mad when this person reacting has no clue. When I first watched you, I thought you were amazing, and I’ve stuck with you since then. I also think the mentality of ARMY is to support BTS in everything, and because of that, they tend to support anyone that watches BTS based off of the theory they need BTS spread world wide. It’s blind support, there needs to be a happy balance, you can really tell off the bat if someone is genuine, well maybe not all but some. I also think, KZbinrs want to keep the numbers up so they reaction to suggestions from the fanbase,which is good. But the content they want that reactor to react to, isn’t content that they (reactor) likes. For example, TikTok compilations of thirst traps, ship moments, etc….. they react because you asked them to, but they don’t like it. Some are just there for the music, and that’s cool, they don’t have a invest in BTS content if they don’t want to. But sometimes it’s as if, you don’t invest, and you don’t watch all content, you must not be “real” ARMY. I don’t like that, ARMY needs to suggest content that reactor likes, not what you like.💜

@47:08 I think its fine for reaction videos to use color coded lyrics. But afterwards, maybe try to go back and check out doolset lyrics to verify that the meaning is not lost as color coded only care abt putting out videos quickly not if they are accurate. I think her suggestion is for regular armys. If you're familar with the song or it was just released, you should be giving bts those streams, not a random person.
@SilverFang95
@SilverFang95 Жыл бұрын
Or just use doolset from the get go🤷‍♂️
@shanajeangedeon9060
@shanajeangedeon9060 Жыл бұрын
They could just use doolset in the first place. The reason that color coded lyrics is not okay is because they get paid for "original music" that isn't theirs because of the tiny clips of "original" songs that they put as their outros, which takes away from actual translators that do their jobs right. Plus, many of those videos are used by casual fans to just listen to the song rather than the original source because it's more convenient which takes away the casual streams that bts should be getting. (and many of those channels don’t even know or like the groups they "translate" for, they just do it for views and money)
@jordyn29
@jordyn29 Жыл бұрын
@shanajeangedeon9060 I understand all of that. I agree with that, but in the reaction space, there isn't much of an exact alternative. Yes, they can go to doolset and read the lyrics, but this is often overwhelming and hard to keep up with considering for them, it's probably a new song and they don't know the tempo/melody so its harder to keep up with. I've also seen lyrics videos help both people who don't know abt Doolset or people who are casually watching reactions to know the lyrics when they never would have seeked them out anyways. This is not to justify lyric videos existence, but just naming possible benefits since they're already used. But yes, I agree that they can be harmful, inaccurate, and ultimately take away from the artist and should be avoided when possible.
@shanajeangedeon9060
@shanajeangedeon9060 Жыл бұрын
@@jordyn29 They can look up the lyrics after, there are already several reaction channels that do this once they've been made aware of how bad color coded lyrics videos are. Plus, you don’t need to know the melody to read the lyrics, you're just reading it to know what the song is about not to know the vibe of it. (side note: I also use lyric videos for other artists, but only once so I know what they're saying, I understand the benefits; unfortunately there's only 2 benefits and several negatives when people continue to use those videos more than once)
@jordyn29
@jordyn29 Жыл бұрын
@shanajeangedeon9060 I mentioned that in my initial comment about reading lyrics afterwards. My comments about melody are referring to those who want to follow along with the lyrics and song at the same time. I find knowing what each line means as it goes to be more impactful sometimes (and this can be done with reading the lyrics, but you gotta know the flow of the song first, so it can't be achieved on initial listen(s)). Again, though, I don't disagree with you, I was just offering a different perspective.
@mikrokosmochi
@mikrokosmochi Жыл бұрын
You can read the lyrics on genius or doolsetbangtan the translations are 100% better and has explanations and context for certain lyrics that have multiple meanings. Those color coded videos are monetized and bighit cant even do anything about it because the creator put a bit of some random music at the end, so youtube flag it as their own creation. Bts loose streams and money.

I’m pretty good at telling if a “Bts reactor” is real or not. I won’t subscribe unless I really see it’s for real. I can’t stand these fake people that act like they are blown away by Bts and freak out and run around the room screaming after 10 seconds of a song. That’s obvious that you aren’t real. But there are sooooo many naïve Army’s out there that believe everyone loves them and they start leaving paragraphs explaining every detail and then recommending songs. I won’t say anything to them unless I know they are real. Not worth wasting time on.

You are correct, you are not mentioned in the problematic part of the video, meaning you are doing something right. Your channel goes beyond reacting, yes, you do react to the new releases and stuff, but you add something to the conversation leaving your mark in each video; even those unrelated to BTS. One of my favorite things about your videos is when you say ‘Yoongi is from the trenches’ because it’s part of the way you see and perceived them, not just a comment that came out of the blue, but something that keeps popping up every now and then. Plus, you constantly stop to share your comments and opinions and also share your personal experiences, sharing with us how and why BTS is important in your life (exactly what I do when I talk about them with friends and family). I like to watch your channel, I have a lot of fun, and seeing you trying so hard to defend them in court, coming up with ‘interesting’ reasons for their behavior is one of my favorite things on this platform. Keep up the amazing job and tons of love to you.

Nigel, you’re one of the best and I can easily see how much you love BTS and our fandom. You do talk a lot but you don’t drone on and on that I lose my interest. You are also very funny. I have stopped watching certain reactors as highlighted in this video for the very reason she has mentioned in this video. Who enjoys watching a group of people watching BTS and look like they’re sleeping with their eyes open. I mean , is sleeping a reaction? I also hate clickbaits as it’s so misleading and already takes away the genuineness from get go. I love first time to BTS reactions but have been disappointed so many times because it wasn’t their first time. As an army I feel that reactors don’t need clickbait as if it’s about BTS armies will watch, period. because when you multistan there a conflictions conflictions of votes or conflictions of perhaps another idol/group you like treating bts like trash (obviously this doesn't apply to all) etc. etc. as far as reactors go, why a red flag is reacting to a bunch of different groups is because SOME reactors (i'm saying SOME because not all obviously and i don't think this applies to nigel) only react to bts for clout but really like other groups OR are only reacting to kpop for clout which is why there are so many groups to suck up all the fandoms a lot unfortunately do this and are not genuine with it and we need to keep an eye out for those who are and those who are not now i'm personally not saying 'f* multistans!' i'm just trying to give perspective as to reasons why a lot of army's do not care about them the main people i don't like are the camp of 'bts aren't as good as they was! they only make english songs!' when they made a total of three songs in english LOL

She's specifically talking about how some multis(not all, but still a worrying amount) will use their status as a multi to lie and/or join toxic comment chains or even dangerous conversations. I have seen a majority of multis simply enjoy groups because they just like the music, but I have also seen several multis that use their status as a multistan to either act superior over the fanbase or to hide as "a kpop fan" amongst bts haters and not defend the boys at all because they think "they're not that much better anyway". It isn’t common in army spaces, but the amount of toxicity and constant comparisons that I see whenever it's a "kpop" space is very unsettling(and honestly scary, some of the stuff they say is very dangerous misinformation and/or straight up hate for their success)
@heidimej_rey

Multis are known to throw BTS under the bus, esp during voting eras. Idk Abt you but most of the multis do so. And also there's a difference between a casual fan and an ARMY. If you know Abt the Kpop industry, fandoms are the core reason why an idol group succeeds, and ARMY will always give time to support BTS whether to stream or vote seriously.

Poper Balance and so forth, man Reactors are Fine they just need to take their Time and essence in consideration too along with the Love they show/give to up. and such🫱🏾‍🫲🏽🫰🏾🤟🏿is Beautiful too

There are non-color codes lyric videos if you really need to see the lyrics in a video. Alternatively, you can put Doolset’s lyrics up on screen for both yourself & viewers- music those lyrics are more accurate. Color coded videos often have incorrect lyrics bc the ppl making them post them almost immediately after the song comes out, just so that they can have content out the fastest. Also, these channels Often put in a snippet of a different song as an intro/outro- they can then copyright that video using their song which means they end up making money off of bts (& other groups) music. Jaeguchi is one of the worst offenders of these do please do not watch ANY of their videos.

I feel the same, watching other army (and possibly non army) reactions is sort of way to connect with other army. I am avoiding twitter/X for certain reason and I don't know any army irl that I could talk with. No one in my friend group is interested of hearing my detail orientated speeches about common things and even less about things I am interested in, such as music.

with the colour coded thing, from a new army pov i would understand why its helpful. cause you get to learn their names, faces, voices and lyrics. but most of these channels just copy paste lyrics with low effort. there are some good lyric channels like DIAL 6137 that have better lyrics than these colour coded ones though.

I love you, Nigel, and you, just like WG2S, Jose Ochoa, DT, BrisxLife, FO Squad and Sébastine are genuine reactors. There's no clout amongst these reactors. I only have patreon for Nigel and WG2S because I don't want to overdo it with patreon. I'm comfortable with just Nigel and WG2S.

I think lyric videos are veeery useful especially if youre listening with soimeone else and wanna see the lyrics. I believe that boracity meant not to replace lyric videos with official ones. so if you just wanna listen to the song, make sure it's the official video. If you wanna see the lyrics for a reaction, go ahead and use the lyric videos :)

I also think that in this video, there were topics she covered where I completely agree with her. But!, she was also generalizing KZbin reactors. It’s a reaction, it’s their channel, yes, some are more quiet than others. But because of what you perceive as reacting isn’t the way someone else would react. I’ve watched V, and JK react to a video and not say a word, so that’s not always true, that they don’t like the video. If I watch a reactor and I think personally that they are to loud, over the top, to quiet, boring, etc… I just don’t watch them. Everyone has different tastes, you have a huge population of fans, you are gonna get a lot of different aspects, or thoughts, you decide who you like. I think you need to be careful when you call someone out, because realistically, you don’t actually know for sure. That’s the biggest problem I had with this video, explaining and showing examples of contradictions is cool, but specifically calling out a person, and bringing things up that have nothing to do with BTS, is a very slippery slope. One doesn’t correlate with the other.💜 I’m not defending the guy, believe me, I’m not✋🏽 I just think she needs to be careful.

I actually came in when that "hated reactor Ameir" started with JCole video. We tried to educate on who Jhope was and how BTS was amazing. At first, his reactions were genuine..and he told us to "Spam my Facebook and IG to get my family asking, who are all these people." We were hyped about it..but on his Facebook... he was talking down about a lot of women and spoke a lot about misogamy I had to delete his facebook. THEN... ARMY found something he had said and they went crazy. I never knew what it was in particular. He then shared that he just got googlesense and talkin about quitting his job after only 1mth of watching BTS videos. He refuses to be a KZbin premium member and the adds come up during his reaction which is wack. If I can pay for it..he should.

i first saw you when u did your reaction to film out, and i was subscribed for a long time! i still think youre someone who provides entertaining content as a reaction channel and i like that youre always honest. but after a while, i stopped watching and eventually unsubscribed when I realized the bulk of official content reactions, songs and stream VODs were all being put on patreon while your youtube turned into watching compilation videos with the same clips we've all seen like 30 times lol. I know that stuff gets claimed and in some cases, you risk a strike on the channel, but its to a point where the things that i and others subscribed for in the beginning is behind a paywall. youre not the only youtuber that's done this, and i've un-subbed from other great channels doing the same exact thing. I'm happy for you that you were able to build a community strong enough that they could contribute to supporting you on patreon. it just feels kinda shitty that those who were there before patreon that cant afford it are left in the dust, yknow?

What that man did was not a mistake, that’s just who he really is. Misogyny is real and harmful and a majority of bts’ fanbase are women, some even young, impressionable girls. Like you said, it’s dangerous. Now onto reaction channels, I think alot of the appeal comes from people not really having someone they can relate to irl as a army/kpop fan. It’s definitely becoming more common, but you never know how someone will react bc ppl suck sometimes. I just wish, like boracity said, we can be more critical of the content we consume, bc at the end of the day, we want to avoid feeding into channels that encourage solos, antis, and just ppl who listen to bts’ music, but don’t take them seriously as artists, bc it can be harmful for the boys themselves.
