I’m a 70 yr old woman & I’ve had plenty of opportunity to become a boy band fan. Didn’t happen - not with the Beatles, New Kids On The Block, NSYC. Actually other than the Beatles, I didn’t much like boy bands. It took one mv, “Dope”, in 2016 & my rabbit hole all occurred. And it hasn’t stopped. IntoThisBangtanShitForLife.

“One member of BTS has more talent than all of you combined” - the truth uttered on a microphone & repeated twice is the main highlight for me. Army loves you Landon! You speak nothing but the hard truth! 😂😅 AND to stress this out as well - the HUGE reason for BTS success ON TOP of their enormous TALENTS & CREATIVITY is the fact that they are GENUINELY GOOD people doing their UNIQUE BEST everytime with the purpose of being a better version of THEMSELVES & not like the other crab-mentality & bitter groups or individuals out there! And the authencity is being seen, felt, heard (& even smelled & tasted) by the audience. That’s their biggest advantage y’all!!

This right here! Not just talent. Humility, and just genuinely being good, down to earth people. You will never ever see any member ofbts looking down on another group that's just trying to survive in the music industry, because they understand how hard it is to make it. They know the struggles and the pain, and they would never act so disrespectfully or big-headed like this. Bts aren't just talented musicians, they're great people to look up to. They have achieved the dream everyone wants. Starting small and making it big. They're the success story everyone wants for themselves. Everyone wants to achieve their dreams but they are proof that you can do it if you try. They're successful, but so humble. And they work together as a team so well. They make up for each other's weaknesses and really shine when they're together. They have an unbreakable friendship that's so beautiful to see. I don't see why more people shouldn't support them. They're such great role models for young teens and even those older generations. Despite their success, they never give anything less than their very best. Every. Single. Time. The fan cams you see of them collapsing with exhaustion the minute the stage lights go out. They give every ounce of energy and passion they have. And THATS why they're popular. They're genuinely amazing, talented hard working people, and that should never have to be something that is criticised or ridiculed.

When I first watched this video essay, I was livid, Landon, LIVID at the xenophobic rhetoric and racist mockery of the guys! But as they say, Karma is an ARMY. We got the last laugh. We in this BTS shit for life indeed and those nobodies are nowhere to be seen. I am so proud of the success Bangtan had even in times of great hardship for them and the rest of the world and I hope that their love and light continue to keep ARMY going for a long time to come. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I am right there with you in that anger and frustration, but I hope you can find even a little bit of solace that the guys are above that. Just like Suga says in "Cypher 4": "You just keep living within your means, I’m sorry but I’ll earn more going forward, By all means please live healthily, and keep watching me (succeed)." * mic drop *

I loved your reaction. I am a 70 year old 8th generation female American. Seven year ARMY. I haved watched these young men grow up. What a story! Never a fan of these other boy groups...or girl groups for that matter. I did watch The Beatles debut on the Ed Sullivan show on our b&w TV. They were a game changer, but they were not BTS. I am not a fan or Western rap, but when BTS raps, it sweeps me away. Not understanding every word is such an ignorant excuse. My old 2 cents worth.
@rafaelsmith5737 Жыл бұрын
Agreed, I was never interested in bands like the Beatles, 1D or etc. I'm also not a fan of Kpop either nor am I a fan of raps. The only rapper I tolerate is Eminem, but when I discovered BTS, I never once in my life had thought that I'd actually enjoy raps. I don't even understand what they are saying without reading the English subtitles, but let's be real, even without it, their raps can still move people. They don't even need to rap fast to sound good and what's more is they don't rap bullsh*t. Their rap verse are all deep and meaningful and their song messages are VERY impactful. Yet, these boy bands, not just in the west but also in their home country belittles them. Which is such a shame, no wonder those types of bands will never be as big as they are.

😢 there once was a world that had taste and culture and appreciated music for the pleasure that was received when listening to it, people would go to the theatre to watch a non English speaking performance, they called it opera, when beautiful voices were applauded and the story was told by tone and emotion. To me, BTS is the new version of opera, I went to the ‘movie theatre’ just the other day to watch them, in fact the only time I have been to the movies in 10 years minimum has been twice, both times to see BTS. These wonderful young men have talent leaking from their pores, they draw you in to having to watch everything that they do, music or otherwise, they bring laughter to your life and brighten your day. I have heard the occasional boy band group on the radio but their music did not make me want to look into them further, it was background noise to me, but if BTS should be playing I will feel happy inside and sing, hum along and smile. Good luck to the wannabes that come running behind them, you have a lot to live up to, but sadly, I don’t think you will succeed, no matter how much money is thrown around to help you. Once you BTS, you don’t leave, you might miss something. Thank you for your reaction, I felt and appreciate your anger and support. 💜💜💜💜💜💜

I used to stan the JoBros back in the day (contrary to many, they're actually good performers - although BTS are untouchable in that department obviously) and lucky for my army heart they always hyped bts and had nice things to say about the tannies, but that makes sense bc, contrary to some of these groups who barely get along and are just thrown together, the jobros are literal brothers so even if they fight bc of work they still gon have to pass each other a plate during family dinner lol, so I feel like first of all they respect bts dynamics as they know it's hard af to keep a group together even when you're literally related. I remember Nick talking about going to the Rosebowl concert and saying he was impressed with how the boys managed to do both group and individual songs. That probably resonated with him like "so you CAN do BOTH group and individual stuff at the same time" bc lack of space for individually is, if I remember correctly, what made them break up the first time. Even when Joe got asked about who he thought was doing great or something he and his wife were like "bts are the best". Now that dude from FYIM... gotta check my blood pressure bc DAMN he was SALTY. God that clip always makes me cringe so hard to this day bc like how was he not EMBARRASSED as soon as the words came out of his mouth like did you legit just say that sht in front of a camera "there needs to an american or european boy band" yikes just say you know you can't compete and go 😖 it was like a trainwreck, dude just kept dragging himself more and more into the mud with each jealous/xen0phobic/r4cist comment like? 😭 I'd never show my face anywhere ever again, but well I don't say stupid sht like that so it could never be me.

The group call Why Don't We was one of my the first boyband I listened to and became a fan of. I remember listening to all their music but that was it, I only watched one interview of them for the first and last time. However, bts had me in a chokehold. I knew who bts was in 2019, the first song I listened to was fake love. I wasn't a fan, more of a causal listener but then stopped. In 2020 black swan was recommended to me but I told myself to watch it later (never did). The same year I started listening to Why Don't We but then I started to get bored of them. In the beginning of 2021 I heard dynamite play in the radio and I saw that it was bts and I knew who bts are. Later in the day I watched the dynamite mv and then fake love, not today, etc. Slowly I listened to dynamite everyday and other songs like fake love, idol, dope, anpanman, gogo. Before I knew it I became a fan. I wish I got into bts earlier but this is how it turned out. They came to a point in my life that was boring and repetitive, they made me happy and enjoy life again.

This attitude about the lyrics not being in English really annoys me. It's such an entitled way of thinking...like so many people around the world don't speak English as their first language or at all and we still listen to English and "American" songs from childhood on without understanding the lyrics. It doesn't really matter...if you want to understand the message of a song there are ways to find out and if you just want to vibe that's fine too, but can we stop this rediculous argument about the language being the factor of success.

Landon, you dropped into my feed like a breathe of FUNNY AF air!!! There is so much to say about that video that the tongue gets tangled up trying to spit it out fast enough (we common Army aren’t RM, Suga or J-Hope after all)! But you summed it up nicely: ONE MEMBER OF BTS HAS MORE TALENT (and PASSION) THAN YOUR ENTIRE GROUP COMBINED! Sadly BTS has been dealing with jealous haters from the beginning but their determination and GREATNESS has just been fueled and fed by it, and they are now THE KINGS on top of the Pop world throne and ain’t nobody coming close to dethroning them any time soon (or distant). That they remain humble, polite, self-deprecating and extremely hardworking is part of their success and incredible charms. I’m hitting that subbie button for your channel and Boracity Magazine! So I am actually familiar with all the bands in this video. I don't want all 3 members to be seen as BTS haters when it was just that 1 guy. Also, prettymuch and new hope club are very talented and have covered and collaborated with kpop bands in the past. "You look so angry and jealous" No, Landon bb...what they look like is UNINTELLIGENT. "Another group that 'sings in American needs to exist beside them'? What, and I cannot express it enough, TF? "If you were trying to be a boyband and getting played on Disney Channel didn't get you any success, I'm sorry" FACTS. Maybe if BTS has some spare time (you know, between collecting all those awards and getting so many ambassadorships for big brands..not bad for a group that doesn't speak "American") they could teach these guys how to BE successful? Though I doubt they'd want to waste their time.

To all the ignorant people who assume that fans who like non-English songs do so without understanding the lyrics: A fan may be initially hooked by a tune, a choreo or the visuals but that’s just the entry point down the rabbit hole! People read and look up translations! Why are there so many reactors, so many views and engagement to those reactors, not to mention high consumption of the music as evidenced by all the charts? Be jealous of BTS success but just STOP insulting the fans!

CNCO, The group says they are open to singing in Korean with a K-pop boy band like BTS. “We're super down to make good music with them,” Camacho says.Apr 15, 2021. How ironic. They’re now eating their words from 2018. The audacity of some people. First insult them, then try to use their popularity to advance your failing one, no thanks.

I hope they don't even attempt to go down that route. The first and last thing they will be remembered for will be their racism. Better they steer well clear or be dragged by all k-pop fans to hell and back...
