Within the Farmland Arc, the ultimate fate of Gardar and Arnheid has been devastating from an emotional perspective. The way that the story introduced the characters, made them relatable and ultimately comes to an end is incredibly engaging and impactful, and truly a masterful development for the larger narrative and main characters affected by these events.
In this video I put together a few tracks that have been used in Episode 17 and 20: "Rusty Sword" from Season 1 and was a perfect choice for the scene, and "Destination" and "Itself" from the new OST. Going from the quiet departure of Gardar to the painful death of Arnheid, Yutaka Yamada's score was able to carry the burden of the scenes and convey the tragic events with his music with his incredible musical touch.
Tracklist:
0:00 Rusty Sword
6:27 Destination
8:43 Itself

The story of Arnheid and Gardar was heartbreaking, in episode 17 Gardar and Arnheid are on the road, he starts to think of his family, he remembers the day Hjalti was born, the day he took his first steps. It was a really beautiful day, Arnheid is outside, she hears Hjalti laughing, she turns to look and sees him walking for the first time, she begins to laugh, she's so happy. Hjalti walks over to her and she picks him up and holds him in her arms. Gardar sees all of it, he's so proud of him. He smiles when he thinks of that moment. He asks Arnheid how old Hjalti is now, she tells him he's six. He says "Six, huh? I see... That's to bad. I couldn't see him at his most adorable age." I loved what Gardar said about Hjalti "When he becomes old enough, he'll probably say that he wants to become a Viking. Like all boys do. But I will not allow that." The way Arnheid looked at him, if only they had the chance to go back and change things, that's all Gardar wants, he remembers the day he left, the look on Arnheid's face that day, he tries to stop himself from leaving but he can't, it's only a memory, all he can do is watch. The ending was so sad, we see Arnheid, she's crying, her tears fall on Gardar and to him it feels like rain, when he wakes up he's so happy, all he wants is to go home, to see his son. When he gets there Hjalti is waiting for him, he's older now, the way Gardar pictures him. The look on Hjalti's face when he sees his father, the way he laughs when he runs to him. Gardar then holds him in his arms and says "I'm... home..." As the episode ends we see Arnheid, it's time for her to say goodbye to Gardar, she's crying, it's heartbreaking the amount of pain she's had to endure. We see her holding Gardar in her arms and she says "Welcome home... Welcome home... Gardar." It breaks your heart when you think of everything that Arnheid has been through, everything she's lost. Her freedom, her husband, her son, and now her unborn child. When she helped Gardar escape Einar asked her why she would do something so dangerous on her own, why did she not let the storm pass. She said "Why...? A dream... I couldn't help but dream, I guess. About my unborn child, Gardar, and our family... I thought that maybe things were back to normal. Back to... Back to normal. His eyes used to be filled with so much confidence. And now... We're absolutely pitiful. We lost Hjalti and yet the two of us are pitifully trying to hold on to life. And despite that we're still dreaming." It was heartbreaking in episode 20 when she had to say goodbye to Einar and Thorfinn, she can barley speak, she says "I hear those sounds... The sounds I heard when my village was burned down. The sound of the world falling apart. They are fighting a war, aren't they?" Einar tells her not to worry, that they are leaving the farm, she says "I will not go. I am going somewhere else. Gardar and the children... I had them wait for me... because I wanted to say thank you. Thank you, Einar and Thorfinn. Thank you. The whole time, it felt as though I was lost inside a nightmare. I was alone. But... our morning chats... Einar's stories..." Einar is breaking his heart, he takes her hand and says "Remember you said that you were going to protect your unborn child? Arnheid!" She says "This child already went ahead of me. All of them died. All the people who were dear to me. What is the point of living any more than this? There is nothing here anymore. Why do I have to live?" She starts to slip away, Thorfinn tries to help her, he remembers when Thors tried to help that runaway slave, he said "My father once taught me this method to bring the dead back to life." He tells Einar to talk to her in a loud voice, he begs her not to leave, it was heartbreaking what he said to her "Arnheid! Don't go! I... really like you. I need you! I want you to laugh at my stories again. Stay alive and once again... Please live with me! Please live!" Arnheid was such a gentle soul, Einar will miss her dearly. It was beautiful what Thorfinn said to her "Far to the west... beyond the vast sea, there is a land called Vinland. The land is warm and bountiful. It is so far that neither slave traders nor the flames of war can reach. There, I am sure you will be able to live without feeling any pain. Arnheid, come with us to that land. Let's create a land of peace in Vinland."

What about that ost in the last episode that sounds similar to normanni

That is actually a new version of 'Normanni'! It has been included in the OST of Season 2, and it's called 'Normanni - 2023mix (Bonus)'. I'm planning to use that for my upcoming suite of Thorfinn 😁
