This is the first of sixteen parts where you will learn Fusion 360. All totaled up that's a few hours (perhaps 20hrs) to learn the basics of the sketcher and how to complete the common features of most simple engineering parts.
It is an effective way to learn Fusion 360; start with the most simple and work your way up to some more complex ones.

Arnold, very well done and very timely. I’ve watched your previous videos and they help me greatly with my efforts to learn and use Fusion 360. I took a little time off and was just getting back to work and realized how much I forgot. I’m looking forward to the next 15. One of the things that I struggle with is not knowing some of the very basic things and tips to be more efficient. Terminology, basic settings, etc can slow the learning by us beginners. Keep up the good work.

I remember talking back then, welcome back. The revised ones should be better now that I have a couple of years feedback to draw on. I've realised that I can demonstrate some power user tips in the tutorials. Not that I'm one or that people can expect to be a genius straight away but you can discipline yourself to practise the habits of a power user. That's almost half way to being there.

I did all 16 of your original series, and this one is just as good 👍 I’m what is termed a ‘senior’, so I tend to learn by read-try-read again method, and progressive video Tutorials allow me to do that. You're a really great instructor. I had 3 years of drafting in high school in the early 80's. I remember many a red mark for sloppy lines crossing, dimensions off, and smudging the paper with graphite. Life took a different path and haven't touched this stuff since I recently got a 3D printer. This is cheating :) Thank you for making these!

Those were the days! I remember seeing rooms full of drawing boards in tech schools and then I'll never forget the shock of seeing rooms full of big 21 CRT monitors at the local uni in the mid 1990's. Times change.

Thank you, I love that you shared your knowledge with us. I tried 3D max quite a few years ago but had a hard time getting the hang of it due to lack of KZbin content. Since I am dyslexic I have trouble with manuals and written courses, KZbin is a blessing for me. I am now working on 3d printing as a hobby and want to design things myself, I noticed that fusion 360 was used a lot for that. and that's how I ended up here. Again, thank you for your contributions.

You're very welcome! KZbin now has the second biggest search engine on the internet and I rarely draw a blank when I'm searching for unusual things. It was only a few years ago that I found the gaps more often. Yes, Fusion and 3D printing do go together very well, I recently got my first 3D printer myself.

Wow! Awesome first tutorial. I may finally learn a CAD program thanks to these lessons. It’s refreshing to find someone who puts in the time to teach rather than trying to show off how much they know. And my guess is Mr. Rowntree could run circles around most of them. Back to school and with a great teacher. Thank you so much.

I've been struggling with getting into Fusion for some time with tutorials that claim to be basic but were actually really badly presented with too much jargon. For someone who is completely new to CAD and had absolutely no experience in any design, sketching or image editing capacity at all, following your videos has enabled me to go from zero knowledge to producing a millimeter perfect spare part that I needed in just over an hour. I'm busy working my way through the rest of your videos and finding a few 'eureka' moments in each! Thanks so much and please keep it going!

I'm no engineer, but work in game dev creating hard surface assets, and this has been HUGELY instrumental to my learning. Like others have said, a lot of jargon usually gets thrown this and that way with these tutorials online which makes it difficulty to fully grasp, but you've explained very well and concisely. Thank you so much!

Best introduction lecture by far. This is the 6th KZbin Introduction to Fusion 360 video I have screened. I knew there would be someone out there who would present the software better than the rest. Other than a few pauses. I got through the lecture at your pace. I am sure that already being familiar with the basic interface helped. Many of the older tutorials are for prior versions and the interface has changed substantially making them almost useless. Thanks again..

Its good to have you here Darwin, let me know if you have any questions, I can often help with the kind of speed bumps most people hit. My tutorials are being revised gradually, number five is in the works now but most people find that they can follow the older ones after a few of the revised ones. The changes were really pretty minor.

The presentation of these tutorials is straight from the top drawer. I use KZbin a lot to learn "how to" various things; from DIY to games and now to 3D Print and the designs that I need to accomplish what I want. These tutorials are by far and away the best that I have ever seen on any subject. They should be studied by any KZbinr trying to get their point across. Many thanks for your time, investment and genuine nature.

I know the pace is a bit quick, I have to try to cover the material expeditiously to keep the overall length modest. But I rely on that pause and rewind function, and so far no-one has worn out the video player on KZbin. Keep learning!

Hi Arnold. I started the older Part 1 and 2 a couple of weeks ago and I think it is difficult for you as an experienced user to remember how unfamiliar everything is to a novice (like me), so I welcome your revised tutorials which are explaining things easier and S L O W E R. :-). Good on you Keith, I do try to pitch them at a new comer but I don't try too hard to speak slowly knowing that you can watch as many times as you like for the same price (0). I'm going to work through all the revised versions which will probably take about a year at my current rate of production so you might need to finish on the older ones.

Thanks Bob, yes, I'll be doing CAM and CAE eventually but it'll be a while yet. I'm not quite half way through revising these tutorials which has to be done first, and I have plenty of ideas for the CAE stuff. I'm going to have to find someone who's good at CAM and work with them because its a learning gap for me. So yes, but not for some time yet.
