I just added my monthly expenses up here in the New York Metro area, it's just a little over $1.6 Billion dollars. Hope this helps.

SUCH an awesome and detailed breakdown! Meanwhile, I just spent $18 on a bottle of wine to take to a gathering tomorrow (El Coto!!) and I could cry at remembering much I paid for a bottle of that in Spain. Ah, it keeps the dream of moving abroad alive!!

Nice thanks, this is useful, we are American's moving to one of those "inland" cities you guys listed so it's cool seeing these budgets as ours is only planned budget as we don't move out until next monty (if they ever accept us on the NLV, 3 months later already!!!)

Thanks for sharing. Lovedyour videos, and especially this one. I have family in Madrid and Vigo and they have discouraged me from planning my retirement there. I tend to visit for @ 1 month every year and have noticed a huge increase on most everything since after covid.

Lainey & Shawn- Thank you SO much for doing this video. It makes the possibility of life in Spain a real thing for me. Yes, if you could do a video on filing taxes some time that would help a lot and I think many of us would appreciate it. I’m looking to move to Spain in about three years ( and do the Camino), and I want to be as prepared as possible. Thanks!

Thanks for the video. Very insightful. You are doing better than some of the people I know here in CA. A friend of mine spends $2300 to file his Federal and State taxes here. And, another couple I know that went to SFO recently spent a little more $100 on breakfast for 2 at an ordinary cafe. No alcohol with breakfast like a Mimosa or a Bloody Mary. And, as you know to get a glass of wine here at a bar, it's between $8 -$15 depending on the place, cocktails are upwards of $40+. Let's not talk about rents here. It's insane. Enjoy you life in Spain and keep traveling. I love using/taking the AVE to go places, it's so convenient.

Awesome breakdown! 👍 Did that $100 tax filing for the year cover the fact that you run a KZbin business? Over $1,000 sounds more like what one would expect with a more complex situation.

Question about taxes as we hope to move to Spain in March 2025. Could we just use the stateside tax preparer that we now use (cost about $150) and exchange/send paperwork/forms by email?

You probably could. Just make sure they understand what you need to file as a foreign resident.

Remember there is a non double taxation treaty between Spain and the USA meaning that when presenting your declaración de hacienda in Spain you should be able to deduct what you have paid in the USA. I hope this helps....

@@YakMadrid1I understand that we should get a US filing tax extension and then file taxes in Spain first and file US taxes second, less complicated.

No, actually I would file first in USA and then would try to deduct that amount from the Spanish declaración de hacienda. Maybe the first time a good gestor would be nice to have.
