Hello, trombone and trumpet player here. This song holds a special place in my heart because one of my friends who was a trombone player played this song all the time. He loved this song and he was a great trombone player. Sadly in October, he passed away. I recently took up playing trombone as the band needed to a new trombone player and as respect to him. I hope I can learn this song. I miss you bro. ❤️

Our band always yells “DING” during the triangle part, since we don’t have a triangle most of the time. At one of our competitions, they had a college band come and play while we were getting ready for retreat, every other band is quiet but ours just yells “DING” and is dancing the whole time. Good times.

Lyrics: Ah, yes Check it out Well, looky here, looky here, ah, what do we have? Another pretty thing ready for me to grab But little does she know that I'm a wolf in sheep's clothing 'Cause at the end of the night, it is her I'll be holding I love you so (hey) That's what you'll say (that's what you'll say) You'll tell me baby, baby, please don't go away (don't go away) But when I play, I never stay (but when I play, I never stay) So every girl that I meet, yeah, this is what I say: Run, run, run away, run away, baby Before I put my spell on you You better get, get, get away, get away, darling 'Cause everything you heard is true Your poor little heart will end up alone 'Cause Lord knows I'm a rolling stone So you better run, run, run away, run away, baby Uh Ah, yeah Well, let me think, let me think, ah, what should I do? So many eager young bunnies that I'd like to pursue Now even though they're eating out the palm of my hand There's only one carrot and they all gotta share it I love you so (hey) That's what you'll say (that's what you'll say) You'll tell me baby, baby, please don't go away (don't go away) But when I play, I never stay (but when I play, I never stay) So every girl that I meet, yeah, this is what I say: Run, run, run away, run away, baby Before I put my spell on you You better get, get, get away, get away, darling 'Cause everything you heard is true Your poor little heart will end up alone 'Cause Lord knows I'm a rolling stone So you better run, run, run away, run away, baby Uh, check it out See, I ain't tryna hurt you, baby No, no, no, I just want to work you baby, yuh, yuh See, I ain't tryna hurt you baby No, no, no, I just want to work you baby If you're scared, you better run (you better run) You better run (you better run) You better run (you better run) You better, you better, you better Run, run, run away, run away, baby Before I put my spell on you You better get, get, get away, get away, darling 'Cause everything you heard is true Your poor little heart will end up alone 'Cause Lord knows I'm a rolling stone So you better run, run, run away, run away, baby

With the covid restriction of going back in person, my band is split up super weird. The entire school population is split into two "cohorts", so we already only have half of our band every other day. But only 15 kids are allowed to play their instruments and they have to be 9 ft apart. Luckily, my school as a huge auditorium the school let's us use so we can get 9 ft distancing. But my cohort has 16 students, so instead of having one kid sit out, we're split into another group of 8. We only get to play with ¼ of our period, and since it's been a full year since we last played together, its rusty at best. We've realized we can't do classic band peices so instead were learning the pep band music. Every now and again, I listen to this recording and blast it and imagine my full band together- not just ¼ of my period, but all 3 periods together- and it's awesome Anyway, thanks for coming to my TedTalk-
