i dont know what it is about harp music, maybe it's just your amazing workmanship on your arrangements, but I find peace in it. really helps me find my center and to relax. thank you for posting your videos online :)

A fine explanation, at last, of how to make great music on the harp. Congratulations Mark.

Thank you so much for posting this video. I'm just starting to learn the harp and have found this extremely useful. I've already started trying to make up my own arrangements on the back of this video. It has opened up the opportunity to learn and play any tune I like now! THANK YOU!

I definitely want to learn this, I really like that you showed enough close ups so I can learn the fingering... :-) Thank you so much!

That's great, esp. the part of playing the left hand in the same or higher octave! Esp. since I teach several with small harps! Sending them all this link! Super! Thanks!

Sally, that's really nice to hear - thank you. And it's great to make up your own arrangements. That's how music continually develops and changes and it's great that you're doing this.

@Hildegard71 Hi Hildegard, thank you! Hopefully you should have been able to download it by now, but if not let me know! Good luck with the playing and let me know how you get on. All the best, Mark

@irisnevins Thank you! There are lots of nifty tricks like that - the reason I do the LH higher thing is because my LH isn't quite as supple as my right (so I guess you could call it laziness - but hey, it works well!!). Thanks so much for sharing with your pupils!

@killiekentman Hi Ray, thank you! We are still together - and doing gigs. You're right in that this is very different music to what we do in the band, but as a harpist it's brilliant (and I think essential!!) to play in a band as well as play solo things.

Hi Ann, Really sorry about that - it was a link to a shop page of mine which has since disappeared. Pending rebuilding my shop I've now redirected it to a message page. Thanks for letting me know! I'll look up the other links - although travelling to the US would be lovely, I can't see me doing it any time soon. But I will look!

@FlareShift Not sure what you mean as I think there's a word missing! If you mean "first" video in two years, not true, it just seems like it, but I've done some quite recent ones. However, this is different as it's the first of a few videos discussing arrangement. Hope you enjoy and find them interesting!

Hi Mark! I tried to purchase your arrangement, but had trouble with the pay portion of the website. I tried to pay with PayPal, but the website never took me there, it just took me to a blank web page. I sent and email to the website, but have gotten no response. Your arrangement of this tune is just a delight!

He says a harmonic cul de sac at one point. Does that mean maybe atonal even here in this context?
@MarkHarmer4 жыл бұрын
Hi James, and sorry to take three years to reply! I think what I meant was that continuing the 10ths would lead to some harmonies which didn't really sound right in the context of the piece. I probably phrased it slightly badly but I was speaking without notes and that's the phrase that popped into my mind!

@@MarkHarmer Thank you for the explaining. Let me chew on that for a while.
