Jesus Christ, this is beautiful. I had no idea this demo was out. The first two minutes makes my heart glow. This is the first "new" material I've heard in over a year from Silverchair. God. They really, really need to start making new music again.

i felt this kinda have a little bit of "Across the Universe" from the Beatles, especially when Daniel sings the bridge on 0:57, impossible not to remember John Lennon's vocal here. Anyway, great song, and well done for the video. Cheers!

young modern era was amazing, it's radiohead level of bsides' quality, so many wonderful stuff that didn't made the cut

Agreed! lol....I almost forgot I made this. 14 years ago!?!? Good lord.. I love the Young Modern album....in part because of how different it sounds to their other stuff. It's very muscular at times, direct, and a bit raw. But the b-sides and demos are the total opposite. VERY dreamy and surrealistic and liminal etc. The demo for Reflections of a Sound is a perfect example. The album version is an excellent little pop rock tune. The demo version is....achingly dreamy. I made a video ages ago for that one too....and included a short instrumental song from the same YM demos at the end. It's gorgeous as well. :)

I know, right? I actually love all the YM songs that never made the final cut. This one in particular is one of the most beautiful songs Daniel _ever_ wrote. How did it not make the cut?? :P But also...English Garden, Barbarella(who's main riff is the same as the bridge on this song), Hide Under Your Tongue, and We're Not Lonely But We Miss You.....are all killer tunes. Then again, I genuinely love the actual YM album...there isn't a dud on it. So I guess Daniel just had too much material to work with. Which is a good thing for us super fans. :)
