God, I swear this has got harder. Previously, I did my alevels in my sciences over ten years ago, and my dad died, so it just did not work out. I'm 32 and trying again, and I am determined to get the grades I need, but omg, it's really hard. But I'm just going to keep trying, set an example for my daughter. Thank you for all the effort you put into your videos.

Thanks for your kind words and I hope your studying goes well. Makes it a lot harder when balancing family life too. Yeh, was a while ago since I did mine and I couldn't remember Arrhenius Equation being on the syllabus.... it's not an easy addition to the spec either.

This video was a great help to me thanks! One question, my textbook (OCR Chemistry) has a different simplified equation to yours their's being lnK = -Ea/RT +lnA with the explanation being that the logarithm of two numbers that are multiplied together is equal to the sum of their logs. This has confused me can you explain? Edit: may be a mistake in text book in the rates summary at the end of the section the rate summary there is the same as the version in your video.
@AlleryChemistry8 жыл бұрын
Yes it's the same they just swapped some the terms around. Don't worry about it. I can see why you may be confused!
@yeifing42232 жыл бұрын
if you do as level maths you learn the rules of logs if you add or minus logs you can write it in one log with it multiplying or dividing it assuming they had the same base. example: ln(k)-ln(A) = ln(k/A) or ln(k)+lnA= ln(kA)

please help, i really dont understand how an increase in activation energy causes the rate to decrease. i thought, if you increase the activation energy then more particles have enough energy to react so the rate increases?
@NoorFarouq3 жыл бұрын
Higher Activation Energy, less particles have enough energy to collide successfully, they do not meet the activation energy, so if less can collide successfully, there won't be as much reacting so the the rate of reaction will be lower. Hope you get it :)
