This is exactly what I was looking for to understand the difference between B-mount and Gold Mount. Thank you.

Finally someone coming up with a smart way to do 24v. It has been frustrating to see 24v V mount batteries around that have the same pin layout as a 14v Vmount. Love the new standard!

Love that it can change between 12v and 24v using smart tech. This is game changer!

Does the size of the mount allow for micro batteries similar to what bebop/swit/core/FXLion have done for v mount in recent years?

I'm not sure if it's your software you used for editing this video or if it's the camera you're using or the lavalier microphone you're using but something is making your audio sound like crap,other than that great video and very helpful.

I'm sure this will vary between manufacturers, but how will voltage regulation generally work on d-tap ports on bi-voltage batteries? Will 12v (well 14.4 nominal..) still be standard out of D-taps? Also wondering if battery plates and cameras with 2/3-pin lemo ports will still be regulated at 12v on camera systems running 24v?
@ARRIChannel2 жыл бұрын
Hi Hannes, Both D-Tap and 2p Lemo are 12V standards, and while it will be up to how the manufacturers implement those systems we doubt that there will be a problem. All the batteries we had for this test provided regulated 12V DTap outputs, if DTap was offered on the battery. If a device (camera etc) provides battery voltage directly to the 2p Lemo port on that device, then we'd recommend using Bi-voltage B-Mount batteries and a 12V system. However, no ARRI camera operates like this, 2p Lemo ports on camera bodies are always regulated 12V.

Great video, strange that Sean sounds like he’s in a cave.

Hey now... They just don't want the audio quality to be too good to take away from the image quality. 🤯

Hi - i've been searching for the technical documentation in this new open standard. Where can i find it? Is there a github with the CNC-Files or something?
@ARRIChannel2 жыл бұрын
Hey there, the documentation is available from either ARRI or from bebob. Battery manufacturers should contact ARRI, and device manufacturers should contact bebob. www.arri.com/en/contact bebob.de/en/contacts/

It would be great to hear what will be happening with regards to D-tap outlets on the new B mount standard.
@ARRIChannel2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kieran, all the batteries that we've seen so far have regulated 12V D-Tap outputs. The battery manufactures are very aware that D-Tap can't be 24V!

When I heard you guys were introducing a 3rd battery mount into the game I was very salty about that. I already avoid v mount (with some issues) and didn't want to have to deal with avoiding another mount and hoping thats ok. After the announcement of the alexa 35 and learning more and more about b mount, I now really hope that it sticks. I know a couple of leading battery manufacturers don't think it will, but I hope they're wrong. If we have the opportunity to have 1 universal battery mount moving forward, I would happily trade in my inventory of gold mounts for this. It just makes sense to go b mount.

Thanks JPC, we think so too!

Listening to him i am guessing Arri working on something higher resolution then 4k. maybe an 6k or 8k Arri who knows.
@toddpeterson59042 жыл бұрын
Arri have been promoting their new camera for almost two years. It will be 4K Super35 sensor. Higher than 4K isn't that important. Most modern movies shown in theaters were shot between 2.88K and 3.4K, and some at 4.5K with the Alexa LF. The quality of the pixels is far more important than the quantity.
@SlashInfinite2 жыл бұрын
Don't hold your breath. Unless they're doing a specific VFX camera, there's no need for anything above 4K. Even 4K is overkill.
@SlashInfinite2 жыл бұрын
@@toddpeterson5904 exactly. I've yet to be on a shoot where we've shot above 3.2K ProRes 4444 with an ARRI. Even 2K is wonderful
@JaspreetSinghArtist2 жыл бұрын
@@toddpeterson5904 even i don't like this resolution race. 4k is enough. i hope most of the camera manufacturers go for better dynamic range and higher frame rates.

should have chosen another letter for the name cause that one might get in the way when communicating on set either on person or through walkie talkies

All good an all but, I wonder who was the smart cookie to come up with the great idea of calling them "B mount", not at all confusing with the standard of "V Mount"... -.- This is gonna be quite the conundrum when placing orders on rental houses or with production
@matte-d349 Жыл бұрын
We can start referring to them as "Bravo Mount" and "Victor Mount"..... Although I'm sure those sound like other "mount" names that I can't think of right now!
