Less dynamic range, more vignetting, bigger file sizes.

I betcha if this was filmed on a Pixus it would look and feel virtually the same. I love Arri but it's hard to justify the cost in most situations.

We see you playing Duke Nukem on your Hi-5, Sean! On another note; having .PNG images of camera/project settings, data rates, lens lists, actor colours etc. accessible on your handset seems really clever and sustainable.

Is this cropped or is it utilizing the full sensor? It's hard to tell.

Receiving a nudge in the EVF on camera could be helpful in situations where a DP needs to cue the operator remotely and silently. Might also be nice for the nudge (when on screen) to identify what device the nudge came from. Great update, and super helpful video!

Lots of great improvements that AC's will like. Now that the 265 is here, I'm hoping next is the Alexa 45 or whatever they call the upgrade for the Mini LF

Does the Arri lmb 4by5 have larger than a 143mm opening ? Can it accept a 4.5 circular polarizer?
@ARRIChannel2 күн бұрын
Hi there, we recommend to use our polarizer: K2.0009434 Rota Pola Filter Frame 4x5.65 with the LMB 4x5.

If I add one of those vintage element rear filters, will it affect flange focal distance or is it calculated into the optical formula of the whole set?
@ARRIChannelКүн бұрын
Hi Max, yes, the use of additional glass elements on the rear side of the lens results in a shorter flange focal distance. However, for positive Vintage Elements, this back focus shift is compensated thanks to a special optical design. This means when using Ensō Lenses with any of the 3 available positive Ensō Vintage Elements at open aperture (T2.1), no shimming is required and the focus scale of the lens remains accurate. For negative Vintage Elements, shimming is necessary if the physical focus scale of the lens shall remain accurate. There will also be an automatic compensation for focus scale changes which can be used with the ARRI Hi-5 hand unit. Please see our Ensō Prime User Manual for more information: www.arri.com/resource/blob/389646/5797289cce139989ffd094dcf0c1d545/ensō-prime-lenses-user-manual-data.pdf

Taking a guess here, i believe the grade coupled with the use of vintage lenses is what’s causing some people to dislike the footage. I can tell the colorist desaturated the sky in some shots. At frame 1:16. The foliage and the model’s hair at the edges retained the graded blue from the sky. It’s an artsy piece for sure. Some may just be accustomed to a cleaner look from Arri promotions. I am not here to judge the colorist as you can see by the comments art is subjective. Some people like it, some people don’t. The fun fact is most people commenting on here will not have a need to rent this camera. Although i will say the dynamic range gap is rapidly closing between camera manufacturers. These new age filmmakers coming up will determine the industry standards in the years to come after the old guard is gone. They are using tools now that are basically splitting hairs with the industry giants. Hence some of the “ not impressed comments” . They are already doing more with less. So it will be hard to justify a rental or purchase at a “certain” price point if what they are using seem to have little discernible differences from the industry standard. On the other hand when you need proven reliability, ease of use, and your post production pipeline benefits from the best camera dynamic range and color science on the market at the moment, the choice is still clear.

miss the Film Days, this here lokks like Blackmagic, RED, Sony, etc. Sadly nothing unique can be seen here. If this 'dancing light' setup would be shot in Vision 3 in 35mm (or even 65mm), it would crush this Video in Look, Feel and beautyness anytime. Digital is always a wild interpretation of nothing but alwas 'oriented on Film', but has no charakter, no physics, no print. Time to think differnt again. ARRI builts the best Film Cameras on the Planet, the people who have the Butget (Alexa65 Clients have), use em and see it for yourself. Make Art again.

Two things to note: The dynamic range on the ARRI 265 is 15 stops, compared to the ARRI Alexa 35’s 17 stops. If you’re pixel-peeping for DR, you’re missing the point-it’s not far beyond what a Sony FX3 can achieve. Instead, focus on the brief close-up face shots, where the 65mm sensor's depth of field and blur shine. Unfortunately, the stylized grade diminishes the footage's potential and the shots that mattered were too brief to absorb. A better test to showcase the sensor’s capabilities would be night scenes, close and medium shots of talent with clinical glass, extreme lighting (think John Wick), and a normalized grade to see how much the skin tones can be saved despite such lighting. Then the low-light performance, color fidelity, and massive real estate of the 65mm would be on full showcase. What the 65mm can do with even sharp glass is funky enough, as the large format sensor can really envelop the subject unlike smaller sensors......This skateboard shoot could’ve easily been done on a Canon C70 or FX3 and a helios 44 (minus the brief close ups).

what would I need to run the arri LF with this plate/lens combo? Bud 3? is the height of the camera correct?

Hey there, the ALEXA Mini LF with a BUD-3 will work perfectly with the SAM-10, the plate will be the same height as an ALEXA 35 with the BUD-1.
