How would you compare the look of these versus Signatures? Overall, these look like a great, modern replacement for the Ultra Primes. You lose a bit of speed, but gain a ton of new features. Hoping that they work well with the Venice too
@ARRIChannel2 ай бұрын
Hey Todd, thanks for the question. Ensōs and Signatures will match well together, they're both lenses which have a lot of resolution but without the micro-contrast that most people think of as being "sharp" or "clinical". Signatures are still the pinnacle of high-end lens design, and have a very sophistocated look, particularly in the out of focus areas. Ensōs have a more pronounced "cats-eye" bokeh effect, for example, and you can also push towards a vintage look a lot more easily thanks to the Ensō Elements. Both sets work very well with the Venice, we'd recommend looking into either the Geckocam or Leitz LPL mounts for the Venice.

@@ARRIChannel Thank you for your reply. I would love to hear about lens design, is it distagon-planar-sonnar design? Are they a night mare to service like the Master Primes? Info on the floating elements in the design would be nice, is the 10,5 aspherical like the 12 and 14 MP, resolution and distortion charts, stuff like that 😅 Looking forward to trying these out! =D

What is the best way to use these on Canon RF cameras like the C80 and C400?
@ARRIChannel2 ай бұрын
With an adapter! Many companies produce RF to LPL adapters, please confirm compatbility with Ensō Vintage Elements with those specific manufacturers.

I was born in the United States and I HATE THE IMPERIAL SYSTEM! It makes NO sense! Metric is sooooooooooo much easier. I have mental fits whenever I go to a hardware store. We were supposed to use it but just use it when buying soda. Insane.

Will these work on PL Mount?
@ARRIChannel2 ай бұрын
Ensō primes are not compatible with PL mount, they are only available in LPL mount. LPL mount allows us to build lenses that can sit closer to the sensor and have larger rear elements, offering larger T stops in smaller sizes amongst other benefits. We offer LPL mounts for all ARRI digital cameras, and many other manufacturers offer mount adapters for third party cameras.

It amazes me how companies neglect to mention pricing of their products after making a compelling presentation
@ARRIChannel2 ай бұрын
Hey there - pricing is set by our dealers in their respective regions, you can find more information at arri.com/contact. Ensō lenses start at €10,900 per focal length.

about $85k USD for a six lens kit. There will be a few owner/operators who will buy this, but I suspect most purchases will be rental houses.

@@toddpeterson5904 True. And with the number of manufactures providing alternatives to choose from its going to be tricky but I like the improvements they have made to this range.

Ohh you shouldn’t have said Ultra Prime. Just get used Ultra Primes instead of these. They seem to look better and are cheaper. They’re also PL for more flexibility and funnily enough, they cover full frame.
@ARRIChannel2 ай бұрын
Hey there, thanks for the comment. The look of Ensōs is quite different to Ultra Primes my eye, although they are both excellent lenses with their strengths. I find Ensōs to be warmer, with much smoother out of focus details and far less chromatic abberation. Ultra Primes only cover large format/full frame from about 65 mm and up though so if you're after a lens for larger sensor sizes I definitely would not recommend them, we have far more alternatives available now than we did when the ALEXA LF was introduced. There are also very few cameras that can't make use of the LPL mount now too. Cheers - Sean.

If only they covered full frame ;( you definitely get vignetting on some of them with full frame sensors
