When I first heard "Arrival", it was in 1984 at the Cobo Arena in Detroit, Michigan (USA). At that time, it performed by the Band of the British Royal Marines with the Pipes & Drums of the Argyle & Sutherland Highlanders. That performance was incredible! This performance is different (as it should be) - but no less great. It still has the power to inspire in this year of 2024. My thanks to the bands of both performances (2013 & 1984).

My dad passed away on the 26th of December in 2022. We went through his YT history and this song repeatedly showed. He listened to this with his speakers at max. volume. We used this as an intro for his funeral. It was the best choice ever. 🤍

Hatte ich Heiligabend auf dem Hochsitz ,nach dem meine liebe Frau und ich gemeinsam ein paar Stücke mit unserem Horn gespielt haben, mit dem Handy uns angeschaut und gehört. Benny Anderson is Abbas musical genious, he is the most talented of the 4 by a mile.

His X, Anni-Frid Lyngstad. Benny and Frida were that groups power couple and the boss was Stikkan 'Stig' Anderson. Frida was the one that got the sweet deal contract by Stig Anderson/Polar Music. Read about ABBA's history. BB learned lots from the 60's hit maker in Sweden, Stig Anderson. Learn what it took to get vocal centric professional vocalist Frida to join a pop group. It was not easy. In 1972, Frida and Stig signed a deal. Stig had everyone by mid 1971, except Anni-Frid: BB (house producer's), Gorel (admin), Tretow (sound engineer), Bjorn & Agnetha were married, Gunnarsson, and top rank Polar Music house musicians. Without Frida, no group. No future ABBA. She had left the foursome after their cabaret shows winter of 70/71. Stig was Sweden Music and Polar Music, but Anni-Frid Lyngstad had the pull. Stig understood he needed an vocalist of her caliber. In 1972, Anni-Frid got "paid". She was all-in. Leaving her vocal centric genre roots to see what she could do to help make the group different. Benny and Anni-Frid Lyngstad are that groups power couple. Stig is the one responsible for planting the seeds for ABBA. Stig's artist's and his songs dominated the Swedish charts in the 60's. He was a hit maker. Before the ABBA girls, Benny and Bjorn were writing since 1966. Everything took off after adding the ABBA girls. BB learned in 1970, during the making/producing of BB solo album that the girls were the magic. BB had their friend sing back-up and knew they just hit the jackpot. That is how early ABBA started. The issue was getting Anni-Frid to commit to a pop group. Enter Stig and Frida negotiations from early 1971 into 1972. If Frida said no, were would BB be today. Smart and good songwriters know the importance of vocalist that can make a song alive. Willie Nelson wrote and recorded 'Crazy'. A ok song when Willie recorded it. But he knew his song needed a top rank vocalist. So he asked Patsy Cline to make 'Crazy' something it was not at the time. BOOM! The #1 jukebox hit in the world - 'Crazy'. Look what Patsy did for that song. Smart songwriters know the importance of who presents/sells your song. Upfront talent matters. This is why those ABBA girls owned equals shares of Polar Music. In mid 70's Stig gifted half of Polar Music to the foursome. He knew how important those girls were.

How many, many years since I heard this piece? In the meantime, I got Born Again in Jesus and the Paraclete and seem to be encouraged by the Holy Spirit to seek out the divine inspiration that occasionally reaches great artists, raising them and their work to a still-higher, transcending level. Since the Spirit knows the 21st-century ways of reaching us, and knows my interests, He also saw to it that this piece reached me today. When I certainly needed it. It seems I have "arrived" where I belong once again...
