5th question. Why only Louise gets hold of time and sees future, but Ian couldnt do it. You answered it 'its a miss from director'. Actually not. Its because Louise is linguist. So she is the one, who understands the language faster and easier. Ian doesnt perceive the language that much. And then she repeats those words to that Chinese general and that is how she convinced him to not attack and sue for peace.

There was no timeline where the Chinese general didn't give his number and the war actually happened. There is only one timeline in the movie. The Chinese general gave his number to Lousie in the future because Lousie and him both can understand time in a non linear way now. Lousie asked for his number and the mandarin message because she knew that she was having this vision in the past and she got the number and the message from this vision (because in the future she would have already experienced it). The Chinese general complies because he also understands that his present can influence the past and that's why Lousie is asking for this information. That's bootstrap paradox for you. If you have seen an event in the future and it has affected your present, you will never know what happened first, the present or the future. There is no beginning or end. Same thing is shown when she finally understands their language fully. That is because she reads her own book from the future in her vision. And she writes this book after these events. You cant say what led to what.

If your future is correctly predicted then it means that your actions are already predefined by some entity, and it also means that you were not the one making choices, although it may seem that you were making those choices on your own by your mind. But we have tendency to prove it wrong if we ever come to know that our future is bad, so we will change our path. so it means that our future can't be accurate or can't be predicted, it can only be possibility out of numerous. But if you say here that no matter what but somehow you'll still be led by original path to future then, here how can someone or nature or any one can control such a extremely intelligent beings(humans) to still follow the path to original future of yours. Well it will require to be in that knowledge of that entity who will govern us to do actions, and will have enormous amount of knowledge about each one present, that could be only one that is " GOD" but you know as a fact apart from religious and spiritual beliefs, you don't find to be a person and they are mythical. So my point is that our future can't be predicted cause we would have predefined actions which would no require us consciousness to say lie, truth etc Or try to predict. In movie prophecy of everything was not acceptable totally.

There are some things I can think of which can help. 1. To understand a language you need to have empathy. You need to be able to appreciate that the entity concerned is communicating. How do they perceive the world and your communication? What is important to them? How will they try to make you understand? Louie was able to somewhat perceive the future...so she had the capabilities of empathy with the aliens. Which is why she was able to decipher the aliens language. 2. Why were the aliens here? They perceived that in the future (3000 years hence)they will need human help and humans will be able to help them. But if this is so then why do they need to appear now. It implies that they have timed their visit to pass on a key capability to humans which will help human evolution. Why give this gift? To either enable humans to help themselves or use this gift so as to evolve a capability in 3000 years to be able to help the aliens. An example of this? Louie already has used this gift to get the Chinese general to ward off a planned nuclear attack on the aliens! So, as the world learns this language and starts seeing things from an omnichronological perspective they will start developing new technology and new tools. As humans we already have the capabilities to see in the future and past. The only thing is that most of us don't use it.

Now think of communicating in their language and getting that image in your subconcious brain which if u train urself u can transfer to your conscious mind and see the glimpses of future..
