Those who protest unfairly and are needlessly rude to Border Security staff need some kind of deterrent. I think an on the spot 24 hour detention must be imposed and if a non-citizen a three year ban from entering.

The first guy reminds me of my Mum when ever we went on holiday she legit was stopped for a random check every time! It actually became a running joke in our family and we always got to the airport a little earlier just incase. 😂 She didn’t mind she said everyone’s got a job to do but it was just funny it was always her and she doesn’t look sus or anything she just looked like a normal Mum. Some people just have an unlucky run mate so calm down and let them do their job! The more you carry on and make a fuss about the situation the slower they will go 👍🏼

I had a strange pass through customs one time, but I can't remember which country. I had about a 4-inch thick stack of papers with me, and the officer asked me what they were. I was a bit taken off balance to think of an appropriate answer to an unexpected question, because it was a lot of academic journal articles, preprints, and my own research notes in mathematical physics, and it would be hard indeed to explain what it all meant in less than 4 years. I don't know what printed material that country makes illegal to import, but the agent got suspicious and decided he'd inspect both sides of each piece of paper. I didn't get upset or anything, but I realized that if he wanted to look at all the documents I was bringing in stored on my hard drive that I'd be there for months, and I got a bit of a chuckle about it. He asked me why I was laughing, and I didn't dare say why, which probably made him more suspicious.

I've experienced a number of customs examinations for various reasons. Also been given a random drug scan in Australia. Had no problems because I didn't lie on my declarations card or carry illicit substances. It's not hard but it can be tiresome at the end of a long journey, which is why I take Xanax so I can sleep on the flight and arrive refreshed.
