Idk... I accidentally brought a machete along in my carry on one time. We were in Belize and it was over father's day. I got the machete as a present to bring back for my dad. Long story but it made sense to temporarily stick the machete in the bag I used as my carry on bag on the way home. I meant to repack some things once I got my larger bag back but things happened and we were distracted and in a big rush. We make it to DFW, go through customs & TSA. Get to the gate for our connecting flight and I decide to fish something out of my carry on. I open it and slam it shut right away. Machete sitting right there on top of everything. No one caught it. Wtf. Apparently (at least at the time... close to 10 years ago) the TSA is notoriously awful at actually catching things in bags that aren't allowed in an airport. Meanwhile, going through TSA for a domestic flight... they found my tiny little pocket knife that I forgot was burried at the bottom of my purse. They said "you can mail it to yourself" ... "it costs $50"... I had to throw it away. Another time I made it through TSA with a keychain knife that has a 2+ inch blade. All of this happened at different airports. The cruise we went on a few years ago, I accidentally smuggled in two cans of beer in the side pocket of my camera bag. Lol!

Great Britain does get to control what goes into their country 🙂 I think they said there was 10,000 pounds sterling worth of cocaine in the baseballs so this wasn't an innocent person sending innocuous goods into Britain. 🙂 The British constitution is unwritten, but I'm sure there is an equivalent concept to the 5th amendment "nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law;", but the key part is "due process of law" right? The package was scanned in a non-destructive manner and found to be suspicious, so they have "just cause" to search. Also if drugs are not found, one is owed compensation under the 5th Amendment (and whatever the British equivalent is) also. 🙂

In the US, you get yelled at and possibly detained for not abiding by the demands of a “Law Enforcement” agent like yourself. You are one border agent and I’ve been through several while traveling. Believe it or not I'd trust their discretion any day over an American police officer with a gun who can't control themselves around black people - it's pretty great living in a country where you can trust your police force, I imagine this paranoia of human rights abuse is a result of Americans not trusting theirs. Simon Sez hash is illegal in Canada though
@Kekkndslgnlwnh4 жыл бұрын
still illegal to ship or fly most cannabis and a certain amount of cigarettes in America, and if you're driving it can only be a certain amount and the cannabis has to be packaged properly and in the trunk or you can catch charges for it or DUI, even if you didn't smoke it but it's within reach. Even in Cali you have to put your weed technically in the trunk after buying from a dispensary or if you're pulled over you can get in trouble.

Layne Nelson it’s literally sold in the legal Provincial stores (products are still launching) and you can buy it from illegal online sites with zero consequence Getting any kind of cannabis product is ridiculously easy in Canada.

12:30 For something so critical to travel, import/export, national security, economic protection, and crime prevention, it's astonishing to me that this always takes place on the tarmac or in a back-room closet somewhere. Why not build this critical feature into the design of the modern airport? Forcing customs agents to open packages by hand with a Leatherman while squatting on the concrete... Surely there's a better way.

Also explains why packages coming through customs take so damn long. Give the poor guys a table at least!

If it is a real question than the answer is 9/11. Before that everybody took it easy. Airports and customs did not harass the people and didn't rip apart the baggages. About the unconfortable shit. Most of these airport build before 2000. Even this series were made around 2005-2008. About checking it outside. They are checking the mailed products not the personally carried thins. Just think about the huge amount of stuff what is going through Gatwcik each and every day.

When I was in college to get my degree in geology… I was very excited to bring back a few rocks from Switzerland and N Italy like pieces of Granite from the bottom of the Matterhorn.. I had 50 lbs of rocks in my backpack and it raised the alarm bells to immigration and customs enforcement officers took me into a room and questioned me about the rocks.. I had only a few treasures like coo-coo clock and music box but the huge collection of rocks was very odd to them… they had my cases opened and the rocks were exposed and they started grilling me WHY would a 40 year old woman want all the rocks… my husband was laughing and he told them that I was a Geologist and I was taking my fellow geologists students a piece of the Matterhorn taken from the bottom of the mountain… they loved it and they were laughing at me as well bcuz they had never seen that before!
