Secretariat deserves to be called the best of all time but he is so romanticized now it's as if nothing will ever come close. It's impossible to compare eras in any sport.

Arrrogate is a terrific horse for the modern era. The great 4 YO horses of yesteryear are in a class by themselves...Swaps, Tom Fool, Affirmed, Spectacular Bid, Forego, Kelso, Dr. Fager. The number of races and the weights carried by these horses are something that no modern horse could endure.

I think Arrogate can already mix with most of those though, and would already be ahead of Tom Fool and Swaps. His gait bears a striking resemblance to Spectacular Bid actually.

Winx has won 14 races in a row and has remained unbeaten for almost 2 years. She destroyed Highland Reel 5 lengths in the 2015 WS Cox Plate, Australia's best race, and Highland Reel then went and won a Grp1 race in Hong Kong at his next start and at his most recent start he won the Breeders Cup. She also won the 2016 Cox Plate, by a staggering 8 lengths over Hartnell (in top 10 Longines IFHA Rankings), the biggest winning margin in the history of the race. She has since opened her 2017 campaign with an effortless 3 length win over Hartnell.

Winx is very good there's no doubt. Arrogate to me seems even more than very good, his gait is bouncy and relentless. Has Winxx ever won a G1 race iving up 12 lengths to the lead? Would be great to see them run head to head one time.

@ drew garland: In a single race, I'd wager on Arrogate as I think he has a freakish combination of speed and stamina, however Pharoah was undoubtedly more durable. I couldn't have seen Arrogate having the soundness to string together the TC series.

Pharoah only beat two and three year olds; yes, he won BC Classic vs older, but Beholder and Liam's Map weren't in that race. Either of those two might have beaten Pharoah at the time.
