Arrow Damage Comparison & Analysis | Elden Ring

I have played many many hours with bows and this is my thoughts so far: 1) Mighty Shot excels in the open world and in dungeons when clearing space. Too slow in active 1 on 1 boss fights. Mighty Shot should have faster flight speed and higher dmg. Would gladly pay more FP for that. 2) Lightning Arrows with Mighty Shot usually outperform any other arrow type. Fire Arrows are best when sniping miners that can explode when hit from the back. 3) Rain of Arrows is really good in some boss fights, but you need to summon spirits to be able to make it work. Proc status effects with Bleed, Frost, Poison and/or Rot. 4) Enchanted Shot with Horn Bow and Magic Arrows is nice. Just wish the dmg buff would be a little bit higher when using Horn Bow and Magic Arrows. 5) Storm Arrows should be stronger and travel faster because the feathers take long time to farm. 6) Fire should be able to build up status Burning with reduced defence. 7) Be able to at least change Ash of War scaling between Standard, Heavy, Keen, Quality and Occult. 8) Increased draw speed and arrow flight speed with Endurance. It is horrible when enemies can escape being hit with a Mighty Shot just by walking slowly... 9) Would be neat if Magic Arrows scaled with Intelligence. 10) A shop for Flight Pinions?

Sleep arrows/bolts have one niche: Godskin enemies are very susceptible to sleep, and it puts them under for a long time. It's a great way to turn the Godskin Duo into a sequence of 1v1s instead of a 2v1.

Have you thought about using the Kindred of Rot Exultion? it gives you 20% damage increase after any poisen/rot, and stacks up to 32% increase for 20 seconds with the Mushroom crown. Not only will this have more buff damage, but lasts the exact same as frostbite. Using this and then switching to stormhawk arrows might be more viable. Would love to see more tests/comparisons in the future!

issue being theres a bleed version of that talisman + a helm that gives the same buff and stacks

You have to be in melee range in order for the buff to proc so its rather counter intuitive on bow build. The buff only lasts 15 seconds and you have yo wait until the poison / rot counter runs out before you can get the buff again

Very appreciated: at minimum now I know there's no Boss poise recovery. That begs for "stagger timing" like in Monster Hunter. If the Elden Ring boss is worth timing, it'll probably kill you a few times and so you'll automatically get a feel for it. Ad maximum I may just run bow build in my next playthrough. Thanks man 👍

I was looking at this too but it can't be right. There are so many times where I have not gotten a single stagger on a boss attempt but then on another attempt got a stagger very quickly due to a string of heavy attacks.

Watch around 3:46. After not shooting for a bit, the posture recovers. Its just not a constant recovery like bleed

@@coppas2643 hmm, good point and quite important to find out if it varies from boss to boss. I'd definitely like to know: I mostly shield-tank, if it's viable, and therefore I sometimes don't perform heavy attacks for quite a while (nor light ones often enough) . I'll be sure to keep an eye on it for as far as it's possible. Thx ShardtheFox for the observation.

ok. so deleted my previous comment as i had a few things wrong. but, in case anyone is still unaware, in order for a status to be affected by the Arcane stat, the weapon itself needs to scale with Arcane. this is why madness builds use the Dragon Communion Seal instead of the 3 fingers seal, as the former scales with arcane and thus allows your madness buildup to increase. it’s also why frost doesn’t seem to be affected by arcane, as frost scaling give you int scaling, and weapons like the frosty rapier that only has dex scaling... cannot take AoW. i dunno, hopefully From will make some scaling changes to bows, as they feel quite weak. Also, i don’t know if you did already, but could you test bows like the Erdtree Bow with holy arrows, or the Serpent bow with poison or even rot arrows? their descriptions seems to imply a buff to these types (except for rot, i was just curious on that) of arrows. the black key crossbow doesn’t mention any buff to black key bolts (which also do rot dmg), but it would be nice to know if they do more dmg or something 🤷‍♂️

Tried these myself, and the magic longbow you get from Siofra. They do a bit better with elemental/poison arrows but they don't seem to have an actual buff in damage from those arrows, it's just math. They have some native magic/holy/poison damage, so when you add in an elemental arrow you get more of it and it goes through defenses better. The only bow/arrow combination that does anything special is Radahn's arrows + greatbow combo, which buffs the weapon art and changes its appearance.

Unfortunately no. Not until now for my playthroughs, I reached ng+ 3 and I almost finished everything. I didn't find a way to buy it. You'll have to work for crafting it

Can you re proc frost arrow frosbite proc if you alternate fire arrow once it procs? In DS3 you could proc frosbite apply any instance of fire damage then proc it again

When it comes to stat requirements all bows get the two handed bonus. It’s especially applicable for reaching the stats needed for great bows and the hand ballistas whilst at low level.

Equip bow with arrow you can buy and white scarub talisman to boost item drop rate or even get more than 1 in single bird. I did it when I find a bone that I don't know it sell in Roundtable. I don't know where is the best spot to farm but you need to find it on Elden Ring Wiki page.

You probably already found the answer to your question, but Stormwing Bone Arrows are arrows you craft, by using Thin Beast Bones x 3 and Stormhawk Feather x 1. The cookbook is Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook [10].

I found out a way to make Barrage Ash of War to be able to be applied to Horn Bow and used INT as a scaling as well, do you think it would outperform the normal Horn Bow?

I'm confused as to what you mean by your horn bow vs "the normal horn bow". Normal horn bow can be ashed with barrage and scales with Int by default.
