Very similar situation here. I shattered both sides of my left ankle and split the tibia up from my foot a ways 15 yrs ago. I now am starting to have to use a cane as well. When you limp people usually can't tell what specific area it is. When someone asks what happened I also use the line. You can find fellow gamers who get a kick out of it and then sometimes you get those folks who just give you the blank stare. I laugh much harder at the dumbfounded folks.

Actually an arrow in the knee is very strategic and was used multiple times in ancient history. Depending on the armor the enemy was using it was hard to pierce through if your aiming for the heart, the head or other weaker tissues. But the knee, as a lower and flexible joint usually don’t get much protection. That makes the enemy vulnerable(can’t walk because the joint is almost destroyed) and the attacker can kill him properly after debilitating the knee, no flees, no mercy.
