Thank you so much for this video, have bought so many staplers in the past and they have all done this, just bought a new one and after a couple of uses did the same thing. Like you looked at many videos and nothing helped...until this one! Have now fixed 3 staplers thanks to you. Much appreciated!

I just did what you suggested here on perhaps on even older staple gun, I did shave it down (maybe that also helped?) but methinks the main issue here turned out to be the channel the staples feed through, right at the tip where the hammer hits them, needed to be bent out a little bit. I think in all directions. Took no pics/video but I used an old steak knife to bend them out and up ever so slightly. I do thank you for helping me have the nerve to try to take it apart and see if I could fix it, and glad I didn't throw it away a few days ago. It was in the can on top of food scraps and I fished it out with hope it wasn't a lost cause.

My staple gun is doing this and its brand new. Directions on it are useless. Frustrating.
