Sure would have like to hear the story behind all those artifacts other than what names/type they are. like how old where they, what was the game they hunted mostly with them, which where knifes and which where spearheads. Also would have liked to know if there were overlaping on the site different times. Was there any pottery if so were there any markings that maybe carried over from a group a good distancs away that would tie them together. I noticed the heavy screens you were sifting through that beads could go right through, did you even look for any? how about there houses were they reed thatched or clay dobb houses you can clearly see the post holes when digging, they are darker circular shape from the rest of the dirt around them. were there mineral rock (ochers) did they paint themselves with it and what color was it. collecting spearpoints and knifes from a village site is only a small part of things that went on there,...in one day digging with a bulldozer took away all that information and is now lost forever. whats sad is it will continue,.. Oh well,.. i'll drink to that.

@@SharkWaterOutdoors that is awesome. Is it fairly common in Texas to have large plots of land known to have artifacts, available for private digs? Such a neat concept in my opinion. Again, pretty locked down in Maryland. Most people who have had things discovered on their property turn it over to the archaeologists. Which, I’m not against and it’s entirety, but they can’t save them all. Wish there was more opportunity for vocational rock hounds. Thanks for the reply

Nice stuff but using a bobcat to dig seems off to me. I would hate to see people doing this to ancient campsites. You leave nothing behind for anyone else, and the process seems more for your gain than the love of the dig. One arrowhead dug out of the ground is much more rewarding than a tractor digging up 100 to me.

the disrespect and rough handling of these priceless artifacts makes me cringe ! "just bag em up" clang em together and stick em in a big old plastic bag ....yuck! ........nice finds though but this is a bit brutal . kind of reminds me of those man made lakes where you pay per lb of rainbow trout you catch and people kill far more than the ticket allows and they throw them back dead . it seems brutal and leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth. surely you couldn't feel good about this like you would if you surface found a clovis after years of looking and walking ? all the possible archaeological data about who these folks were and why they were there is lost because you lot decided to get drunk and mine the campsite with a machine for some "arrowheads" to put in a glass case . surface hunting is a great way to save artifacts as is hunting sites excavated for drainage or creeks/ ploughed fields but what you are all doing is morally bankrupt at best .
