Man, I always appreciate the comments you leave. I’m glad you appreciate and enjoy them! I work hard to put these videos together so I can share my finds with people such as yourself. So once again, thank you for the positive comment and for taking the time to watch. I’m slowly working on my next video, and if I can complete it in time it should be out in a couple weeks! I’ve already done the easy part…. Finding the actual artifacts! Haha It’s a solid lineup of pieces too, so you won’t be let down!

Thanks as always buddy! Where I found that artifact was just a random bank I decided give a quick look over. I often times pick a spot that terrain wise, looks good. Often times it’s a fruitless search. But sometimes, those barren, empty banks will have a random artifact laying on them like this one! It’s probably why it was laying out there like it was and hadn’t been picked up yet, since it was at a spot that’s not a known site. After years of running up and down the waterways, I’ve seen sites slowly reveal themselves. On the other hand I’ve seen sites that were once big producers dry up and not even produce a flake anymore. So I’m always hopefully searching for the next new site to open up as the end of another site inches closer with each passing season.

From the time we were kids until I married at 32, my younger brother and myself amassed a huge collection of artifacts. Most of it was found in Quitman, Coahoma, and Tallahatchie counties in northwest Mississippi. Some of it was once in a lifetime finds. One of our friends later told me that he sold it all for $300 to feed the family of monkeys that loved living on his back. That was around 1994 or 95. Things got better for a while, but I haven't seen nor heard from him in over 12 years. Maybe one day I'll go back to one of our best spots and see if I can't find the peace that both of us need!
@Points3653 жыл бұрын
Oh man… that pains me to hear! Why oh why would he do that, and why oh why would you leave the fruits of your labor with him?! Haha Oh well, at least you know your collection is still out there and is more than likely some of their most prized pieces! That would be so awesome to go back 20+ years later to an old site of yours. You know it’s still probably spitting out points every now and then! Probably looks totally different too. I say go for it!!

Your production is pure artistry! Great music choice; what I like. Helps to rev me up and get me ready to go for my Winter hunting! I thought that the first one was Kirk serrated until I saw the tip view and the bevel re-sharpening, and then noticed what appeared to a burrination on one lobe of the base, and now wonder if its a Decatur variant? If that last one is Baker's Creek knife then it is is a record candidate for length!
@Points3653 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the belated response.. but thank you very much! I try to keep the quality of the videoing up to par with the artifacts! Haha But I feel ya on getting revved and pumped! All I have to do is watch someone else’s pulls and I’m ready to hit the road! The first one, I’d say kirk all day long. I find a lot of them at that particular spot. It is one of the more odd looking ones found there though! I’ve asked a lot of people about that last one. Took it to a show and got a lot of input. If I were taking votes on what people thought, a motley variant is what most people thought. But nobody was 100% positive. Guess it’s just one of those pieces that the maker went out on a limb with when he made it! Haha Good luck out there with your winter hunting. It seems to be a productive time of year for me, I’m assuming because nobody wants to leave the comfort of their warm abodes! More for us!

Depends on the area! Some spots I hunt I typically find what I call “ghetto points”. Haha those rarely make it into my videos!
@Pointtostones3 жыл бұрын
@@Points365 NW GA is where I'm at. It's mostly Archaic ghetto points with the occasional A frame point. I walked the entire TN/NC border on the Appalachian trail. TN had some beautiful stuff. I'd like to get back up there and actually get to keep something this time around. I imagine you have a nice collection by now. Thanks for sharing what you are recovering. By far one of my favorite channels on here.

It definitely took a skilled craftsman to create most of these pieces. It’s equally impressive to think about the tools they created them with as well!

Would you consider posting the point type and artiface name and age on each find? I know many but have also forgotten some to over the years. It just would be great to have it right there. Im sure many people have no idea what or how old they are.
@Points3653 ай бұрын
I did that at one point in the past. I quickly found out as you probably already know, ask 4 people to identify a point and you’ll get 4 different answers! The last piece in this video is a prime example. I’ve taken it with me in a frame to at least 6 artifact shows to ask about it. I get a different answer with each person I ask! So instead of creating confusion or mislabeling something as I’d surely do, I decided against attempting to identify them on here. I’m sure you understand! I appreciate your input though buddy, and thank you for taking the time to check out my finds! New video coming today at 3:30!

@@Points365 Christmas day was the first time I saw any of your videos. I've watched several of them and you find some real nice stuff has give me the fever bad. One whole side of my farm ajoins the Ohio river sixty miles down stream from Louisville Ky. I find some ever now and then but when i was a kid forty years ago we raised pigs and man you talk about finding rocks those pigs would root them up by the truck loads.
@howardfreeland55953 жыл бұрын
That is a very good site and you found great points. I particularly like the first one and the turkeytail, but a really nice variety of cultures. The last one is very nice as well! I believe it may be a long, narrow hardin. It is likely a "hobbed" hardin (if it is a hardin) with theexpanded "crown" base. I am not an expert, but that's my belief. Thanks for the show! Look in the Overstreet book and see what you think about a possible hardin.

Well I took it to a show a couple weekends ago and asked about everyone that knew anything about artifacts. I got a lot of different opinions on it, but the 1 type that I heard more than any other was a motley type. But nobody was 100% on that. Guess it’s just one of those pieces where the maker went out on a limb and got creative! Haha

Awesome finds what county Tennessee do you hunt and because I had it in Davidson and there’s some really cool spots anyway thanks for sharing Happy hunting
@Points3653 жыл бұрын
Davidson co. is where I live. That’s where I start and pretty much branch out a couple hours in each direction from there. Where I hunt depends on what the conditions are like. Rain in the east, I head west. High water in the west, I head east! You catch my drift! But man, we live in one heck of an area. I’m sure you’ve got quite a few killer pieces yourself!
@darkkingastos43693 жыл бұрын
Congrats! My guess is the last point is Mid to late Archaic related to Etley. Looks to be a large atl atl javelin tip. The base is too fragile to make for an effective knife.
@Points3653 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Someone else thought it looked etley-ish as well. It’s a little out of my range, but I’ve found plenty of things that are uncommon to my area, so I can’t discount it! Thanks for the input man, I appreciate it!

Thanks man! I about had to have a seat in the mud when I walked up on that last one. haha I'm not really sure what type it is either? But the piece that's notched on one side is called a pipe creek. @Points3653 жыл бұрын
Thanks man, I appreciate you checking them out! I understand you wanting a commentary, but to be honest with you I’m wayy better at finding artifacts than identifying them! I just don’t know them well enough to name them off on the fly as I’m finding them. I could take a guess at it, but I don’t want to put out false information. Plus I would probably get crucified on here by people if I mislabeled something! Haha I’m sure you understand! The last artifact in this video I still have no clue what it is? I’ve gotten about 4 different thoughts on its type, but peoples guesses have been across the board.
