One word of warning, and I think Myron might have meant to say this, but with the 400mm Warbird Series from Eachine (your P-51) they do fly kinda "strange" so might want to work into another bigger, and possibly better analog for fixed wing flight...NOT to take anything away from the super-fun P-51 you've got there...it's GREAT, but just don't want you to have a hard transition to something a bit more ordinary flying ;) Here's my "beginner list" and take it from me, there's no rush to move through the ranks, especially if you fly Drones...you probably could skip a lot of steps with the skills you've already earned...but I share this just so you can kinda see what I normally suggest, and you probably already know about most of these ;) Description | Purchase | Videos Habu STS 70mm RTF - bit.ly/38Kilv1 - kzbin.info/aero/PLXTH0DstRDc5fYbIobNAtMUz2EoT7FGLl Apprentice 1.5m RTF bit.ly/2OIjVHd - kzbin.info/aero/PLXTH0DstRDc4LA2ldEUZQMVWkJpCslxRc Carbon Cub S2 1.3m RTF bit.ly/3bS2r3O - kzbin.info/aero/PLXTH0DstRDc4Y9gQ5S22B_3SXmtqylcmM T-28 Trojan 1.1m bit.ly/3eOh9Lk - kzbin.info/aero/PLXTH0DstRDc6-_gHuXM6a1Nf_2nRxrmlc Apprentice 1.2m RTF bit.ly/2OIjVHd - kzbin.info/aero/PLXTH0DstRDc43Qw4KNOOfzt14n6ZBo3LS Sport Cub S2 UMX bit.ly/3cDYUW1 - kzbin.info/aero/PLXTH0DstRDc5gY8qX_x8kAJq3glGMXjDy AeroScout 1.1m - bit.ly/30MNn1c - kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJe9i4SOrZydi5Y Trekker 1.2 RTF bit.ly/34jhgLZ | PNP bit.ly/35xOPu8 - kzbin.info/aero/PLXTH0DstRDc7b7RhCrnT4x4AYrqRVhFHf Bigfoot 1.3m RTF - bit.ly/30mYdOq - kzbin.info/aero/PLXTH0DstRDc7elVLLXihkLRs_J4QQ0Hm- Pioneer 620mm RTF - bit.ly/2YotgbY - kzbin.info/aero/PLXTH0DstRDc5DZarP-qgPO3IEliNvnPuP

Hey Brian, Do you think if you used a 3S with a higher C-rating would give that 3S a punch similar to the 4S-2200 you used? Oh, and did the motor or ESC get warm or hot with 4S?
@BrianPhillipsRC2 жыл бұрын
I felt that this plane was fine, BUT keep in mind the ESC is hidden from sight on this plane...so I didn't even give it a second thought. Some planes will fly perfectly then PUFFFFFF - dead - while others will give all sorts of "feedback" and even cut out on throttle before you have the same PUFFFFFF - dead...but on this and other Arrows, I've been not even concerned on 4S. They just LOVE 4S in my experience! Also, it was cold and windy when we made this flight. I think if you were in a hot climate, or higher altitude, you might have more trouble. Thin air & HOT might be tough with 4S 2200...more for CG and all up flying weight than anything, but more stress on the ESC.

@BrianPhillipsRC2 жыл бұрын
Higher Voltage X Lower Current - Ohms law ;) Same power demanded of a higher voltage will lower current demand. This seems to be often times lost...but that being said, when you have MORE power available, most USE IT [all] ;) 4 X 4.2VDC = 16.8 VDC X 30A = 504 Watts 3 X 4.2VDC = 12.6 VDC X 30A = 378 Watts Wattage is what you need...POWER ;) More Voltage means you need LESS current to achieve the same Power (AKA thrust), but there are often times bottle necks in the way. Worse case scenario, ESC power leads melt the solder and lead breaks free...you have a total loss of control, but unlikely ;)

I bench tested both 3S and 4s batteries On this model.3s peaks at about 27 and drops to about 25 amps at full throttle run test for 10 seconds. 4S peaks at 47 and settles to about 42 Amps at full throttle for 10 seconds. breaks 30 amp mark at 75% as math would indicate..Brian is wrong.

@@BrianPhillipsRC yeah I flew it on the 4s 2200 and it wasn’t to bad. I added 50% flapperons and a bit of up elevator mix and it helps with the extra 4s weight on landings. 100% flaps does not give you enough aileron authority.

Great Job again. Please buy a DC Amp clamp meter and show how you are exceeding the ESC Rating with 4S compared to 3S. Also explain how it will shorten the life-span of said components. Adding weight adds Amps under load too. Thanks
@BrianPhillipsRC2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kurt! Unfortunately, I don't believe this to be true (4S will damage the ESC), but if you'd like to do a test like this, and share your findings, I'd be curious to see how your test turns out...but at the moment, I don't actually have a clamp meter, just a bunch of "standard" DMM's. I don't work with enough AC to justify a clamp meter (usually just low-voltage DC). You can run the math, but I've found from years of experience (only my own, to be fair) that when you have a plane that rejects the larger size pack (cell count), you will pretty much know on a flight - FAST too - I could tell by just the initial climb out, if the ESC was going to crap out on me....they'll sometimes sputter out at 90-100% throttle, and even go into a thermal over-load....but haven't had this issue on any of the 50mm EDF's from Arrows. Funny how current load doesn't always change as much as people THINK it will. Higher voltage doesn't necessarially mean you'll get the higher amps all the time, and a lot of the damage you'll see from using a 4S in a "3S plane" would be from staying into the throttle 100% for something more than a "typical" burst of throttle for climb out or big loop. If in doubt, just leave your throttle down to 80% (do the math, and you'll see what I mean)...you're load is about the same anyway. Ohm could explain this better than me ;) LOL Just fly that thing's wings off!!! Oh yeah, the weight added isn't a big issue at all, but yes it does demand more from the ESC and Motor and Fan, but the CG is the bigger deal...if you're too nose heavy, you'll lose elevator effectiveness. This would be the bigger concern for me. Wear and tear - not something I would worry about, since I will end up in a tree before I end up with a melted ESC ;) LOL...just my 2cents

Anything I can try to do different to get it flying. What would u suggest
@BrianPhillipsRC2 жыл бұрын
First thing...verify your stabilizer is correcting the right direction - this could be your issue. Second, and I know you're thinking, "I already checked 100 times" - do it again ;) - do your ailerons go the right direction when you move your sticks? You gotta check again... If you check all these out good, get that plane on the ground, in the grass (wet = okay) and seriously, just fire the throttle up and see if you can get her to fly off the grass. I know, that's crazy, but you might be able to find a small hill and just fly off the ground. Alternatively, and at the risk of looking like a complete idiot (we've established, I'm totally okay with this - LOL) just RUNNNNN HARD with the plane and give her 100% throttle, and see if you can get her to fly out of your hand. She flies at a relatively low speed...so you don't even need to "Throw" it. The issue is that without a rudder, it's HARD to "get her flying" after a stall, and most guys will feather the throttle, and not GUN IT...I'm guilty of this too, at times. Also, my pride sometimes stops me from using the "AUTO-LEVLEING" when it works so dang good! Use it, even if you have 35 years of flying experience. This too needs to be 100% checked BEFORE launch. Make sure she corrects the right direction. Okay, hopefully with one of these items, you'll get it flying. Once airborne, you will GET IT...this plane is an absolute JOY to fly.

Brian, do you have a tutorial for setting the Vector stabilization control to include the Rknob? Already setup for “Safe / Stability”. Running an AR 620 with NX8
@BrianPhillipsRC2 жыл бұрын
I don't know that you can use the RKnob the way you're thinking, if you're thinking of it like a MASTER GAIN, the way we setup the planes in AR631 or AR637T pnp planes... That being said, you COULD use the RKnob to change through the modes (Auto-Leveling+Stabilization / Off / Stabilization Only), but I wouldn't recommend it. I don't think there's enough obvious delimitation between one mode and another, in my opinion. You'll be trying to screw with the knob and move it too far or not far enough, and could cause some confusion while flying...BUT YOU CAN DO IT...pretty easy too. Just make a channel assignment to that RKnob in system setup...but I'd highly recommend you use a THREE position switch, instead...should be easier whit regard to pilot fatigue. Let me know if you decide to try it. I'm curious if you find success or if my assumption was correct.

The EDF went silent, I throttled back to zero and glided for a moment then increased input on throttle channel which would only give perhaps 30% power. I landed ok. Un plugged the battery then re attached, motor worked as it should again with full range of power. So, I would leave the 4s,, the T-33 seems pretty scale on a 1000mAh, 3s ... 4 minutes of adrenalin, a big enough dose for an old fella like myself!

Ohm's law. Volts x Watts = amps,!, 3S is 11.1 total potential flying full throttle. 4S is 14.8V.. More volts is more amps and is more heat and flying time. under more weight. Pretty simple
@BrianPhillipsRC2 жыл бұрын
Load (demand) dictates Wattage, not the supply ;) More voltage does not necessarially mean more load...but with more load, and more voltage, there is a potential for more wattage. You see what I'm saying. Also, there's quite a bit of difference between static load, and dynamic load on an edf jet due to inrush vs full flying speed current.

Thanks! I don't know for certain why this happens, but I've seen it once in a blue moon, and it's usually when I'm yanking out of some circumstance I shouldn't have been in, in the first place ;)

Arrows planes look very interesting for future purchase. Waiting to see how they handle customer service. Like Eachine 👎 ... or like Horizon Hobby 👍

We're hearing almost 100% amazing feedback about Arrows. To be fair, just one guy has been pretty vocal about a bad experience but I don't even know what happened - I can't get the details. Literally everything else has been positive to VERY positive about Arrows. I'd say it's a very safe bet working with them. They seem to only bring on good planes too, which HELPS a lot. Some of these companies now, are just getting any garbage that will show up (stock has been such an issue) but we haven't had an Arrows that isn't great yet!

Does anybody know of some good current market fixed landing gear to mod this jet with??? i really want to do wheel landings with mine. dont even care if i dont have nose wheel steering either.

Where the mains would attach, make sure you add some CF Strips to carry the load into the middle, and I suspect you could steal a set from something like this, making plastic adapters out of load soda bottles or something similar... bit.ly/3HR8Avm ...but I haven't heard of any aftermarket or stock choices.

Brian, the body of the T33 looks great and is durable, but the performance quirks of the electronics is problematic and are of very poor quality as in one thing the yellow wire to the rudder servo broke lose from the very tiny bit of solder on the uncovered, unprotected controller on a T33 I had.

No - This plane is super "tame" on 3S. Just because it flies fast(er) doesn't mean it's hard to fly, btw ;) You gotta try one! Remember, I'm flying this one in some pretty stout wind....on a calm night, it'll be a breeze (forgive the word choice...I thought it was funny, punny)

1500mah 4s is the perfect battery IMO on this jet....
