I'm not Puerto Rican but I grew up in a neighborhood called Sunset Park in Brooklyn, NYC where Boriquas rule the roost. All of Ida's dishes that I've made so far have been beyond tasty. Definitely transports me back to dinner at many an Abuela's household. Her sofrito recipe is my go-to when I want to be reminded of the bold, authentic flavors inherent to Caribbean Latin dishes. Thanks Ida!

I did end up using a total of 2 cups water (spoon trick worked!). I also made your from-scratch sofrito recipe prior to making the rice. The clerk at the grocery store told me that aji dulce is currently banned from import into the US, so I bought a bag of Sweeties (tiny sweet bell peppers) and he said that would work. The aroma is fantastic. :) Thanks again, I'm definitely going to try more of your recipes this weekend.
