While some of the criticism of Havertz is justified, as it is with any player that does have a poor performance - a lot of it is a spill over from where he came from and that some in the fanbase are unable to turn that off. We saw immediate criticism of Jorginho when he came ("He can only pass back and sideways" - with seemingly no understanding that he was playing in a completely different system), simply because he came from Chelsea but he has been largely a great asset for Arsenal as Havertz has shown himself to be on balance. I do think Havertz is underated and it feels at times that when he has a good performance, or on some occasions a great one his critics merely fall silent and bide their time waiting for the next opportunity to put the boot in. I've never really understood this. Perhaps if Arsenal do bring in a recognised Striker this transfer window Havertz will cease to be the focus point for all criticism - then again perhaps the new Striker will inherit it all simply because he doesn't happen to be the player certain fans have spent watching in you tube highlight video's all through January.

Hello Charles, another great video. I think you raise a great point with Kai and the attacking play overall. However I think the issue has been with the play style that leads to the lack of goal scoring from other players as you mention. Most of this season we've seen that we play with the intention of keeping possession at all costs and recycling the ball from one side line to the other, with the eventual cross or rushed through ball that then has a low chance of conversion. The rebuttal to this is we always face a low block, but I think the reality is we create these low blocks because teams with the way we play a lot of the time. I think back to Jesus recently after he had the run of games scoring, we expected him to score again and he What I really liked about last nights game is the goals scored from Declan and Odeegard show how we can evolve a bring in the midfielders more and use them to add another dimension to our attack. So I'm going to ask a different question here and would like to know your thoughts, but do you think we would benefit more from a true attacking midfielder who can score as well as create chances more then a striker, with our current style of play? In a perfect world we get both and I think we will in next Summers window, but I find it strange that the fan base keep demanding a striker when we don't really have a play style conducive to one.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but as much as we need to look at recruitment, we also need to appreciate what we have. I'm thinking particularly about Raheem Sterling, who doesn't seem to have been given a fair chance by either management or fans. As everyone knows, confidence is key to any sportsmen's performance. At 30, he still has the potential to contribute a lot, but will find that hard to do if the crowd are on his back in the few opportunities he gets. Neither Saka nor anyone else is perfect, so imagine what might happen if we get behind Sterling, remember what he's capable of, and help him rediscover that.

Hey charles, do you think santi giménez would be a cheeky good signing for arsenal in this window? he’s 23 and proven in the champions league. He’s powerful, fast, and good on the ball. i feel like last season his stock was way up but no one seems to be talking about him this year.
@chaprontanguy10 күн бұрын
People tend to forget players are progressing not only because of training but because they are training with others. Kai won't progress much as a striker by being the sole striker of the team. On the winger/striker, I really think we need a striker way more than a winger. No Kai means Trossard or Martinelli up front ?! Nobody wants to see that. With the return of Ben White, Timber could be a cover RW (and would do a better job at it than Sterling).

Why would we let Zinchenko go when we are short at the back? Also when have we been able to rely on Tierney since he joined the club? Nobody should be leaving during this window especailly not Zinchenko. Keep him until the summer. We are already short. If he goes this is poor from Arteta.

Charles great show I listen every day! I have a more general question. Do you think that Mikel has to look at his football philosophy again, he’s developed one of the best teams at managing variance and risk in Europe, but in a low scoring sport where emotion and entertainment are key in keeping the right energy in fan bases and the external football world. I feel like there are criticisms of Mikel that aren’t based on poor performance but instead because his philosophy is counter intuitive to what the rest of football expect from a great team. For example we play teams in to the position of giving us set pieces and Mikel recognised that so put an emphasis on the execution of corners, so we excel at executing those actions. I see that as great Managment but to a lot of fans see it as Pulis-Ball. I seriously believe we are becoming the media’s whipping boys because of it but if he is given time the control of the variables will lead to inevitable success. However I also think that this success would be achieved quicker if a little unpredictability was added to the squad and its tactics, a fact that absolutely everyone can see and agree on, hence the outcry for a striker. I think that is make its clearest when looking at Martinelli the most unpredictable of all our attackers it seems he has been coached out of that and it’s made us less potent! I don’t know what I’m asking of you maybe just for your thoughts (if you do get to see this) Also (unpopular opinion) I hope we don’t see Saka back on the pitch till next season I have it on good authority (an S&C in the industry) that if he is back before August it would be really bad for him long term making him go from relatively injury free to injury prone.

still whines...despite 5-0 in big chances and 17-5 in shots, on a game which only was important just in getting the win and avoiding injuries...Ode motm for third in a row at sofascore, i'm only saying, but what do I know. Can't compare to hindsight experts either lol. They can'tbe all sh..e or? Still second in the league and third in CL table......Otherwise, on choosing between Cunha and Sesko, my choice is Sesko by a loooong shot. Never seen him doing a bad game, and he scores frequently, in addition can on occasion be unplayable. He is a proven gem nothing else

I think Arsenal fans are the only one who talks about price, I mean is that your job? Why are you guys saying 60 MP or 80 MP, there is a person at the club who negotiate the price and that is their job. I see alot of fans from Arsenal including you guys so called journalist talks about price and say oww that is expensive, oww that is cheap. The important thing to do as fans and journalist is give a good analysis and comment what are they missing and what type of player suits them, etc. Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea have won EPL while Arsenal are still thinking about price of players.

Havertz is a very average player. He scores coz he plays in a good team. He can't get into any of top 8 teams in premier league
