I agree with Bhavs on Kobbie Mainoo, what a talent and what a profile. As for Mikel playing youngsters, I wonder if it’s the perfectionist in hm being the enemy of good. What I observe is firstly, the need to win a title with the best possible (senior) team, and then simultaneously raise the floor of the talent in our academy. I think after that, the integration will be easier for him to do and may meet his high standards too. I think the clubs who integrate talent well like Real Madrid and Barca have the history of winning with Barca’s academy being top for so long that they can take risks. When you’re a young manager trying to win, integrating youth is a luxury. If he wasn’t trying to fight for titles, he could also integrate cos there’s little risk. Like a Man United for example.

Agreed but I still think he could have done more. Think of the games like PSV in the Champions League which meant nothing or the domestic cup games. He has to do better otherwise more players will leave pre contract.

funny how George is now saying he is concerned for young players, yet was calling for Myles Lewis-Skelly to be promoted to the first team this past season, as a 17 year old.

That's not true actually what I said was there was an opportunity to see a debut like Ethan not to be promoted who are both 17. And similarly the point in the video centre's on being uncomfortable that modern football is moving to platform younger ages not just the likes of Rio Ngumoha, Chido Obi-Martin, but even 14 year old talents like Max Dowman.

For a debut and yes same recognition as Ethan. I'm still not sure where the claim for promotion was said? In fact many times in pods I said debuts with the odd Carabao cup mins was last year a view to promotion in this upcoming szn based on their pre szn evaluation?

I have a different view to George on the increased role of young players in world football - I think it's inevitable, and not necessarily a negative, just because youth academies and elite sport as a whole is becoming a lot more efficient at development. Players are reaching their peaks earlier than they used to, and that also means that players are reaching a level that they're competitive earlier. With that though, I think that players are becoming more professional and more mature at a young age. We see the media training but there's an entire side to their personal development that we don't really experience regularly, and they are being taught how to be professionals from basically the u-18s.

Let’s wait and see how they fare in preseason. I think MLS has such an aggressive style he could push his way up the ladder v quickly
