Thanks for answering my question on the last pod Charles - just wanted to bring up Merino again because I think Mr Ticks is making the same mistake as everyone else and going "oh a 20m midfielder from Sociedad - sounds pretty average not a ceiling raiser" etc... 20m for him is an absolute steal and he's a late blooming player who looks fantastic. Not every player follows the same trajectory of get a big move in their early 20s get slightly better every year until they have world class seasons in their mid to late twenties before slowly winding down and retiring. I would not be shocked at all if he looked better than Bruno would for us (obviously impossible to ever know as I doubt we'd sign both). He has the same physical profile and attributes (duel winner, box crasher, height) to be the 8 Arteta hoped Kai might be able to develop into when we initially brought him in but with more experience in the role. Another great example that we should be aware of demonstrating late bloomer exist is Xhaka! We just sold him for less than 20m and he was one of the best midfielders in the world last season and never fully developed into that sort of player until he was 30! I think people really need to keep an open mind with this one as you may end up pleasantly surprised.

Absolutely agree, he is a classic spanish midfielder. Elegant, tall, well balanced, he can turn and hold the ball, he is a cold finisher etc. Perfect profile imo for this Arsenal team, a spanish midfielder is exactly what we need. Also remember he has played with ødegaard and the two of them were fantastic together. I mean they were incredible, its a perfect match. We need to bring him for sure, ill be livid if we dont!

I know Merino isn't a ceiling raiser, but we need someone with quality who can play the left 8 this season. Rice can't play every game even if he stays healthy all season and we can't let it be season over if Rice gets hurt. With both Jorghino and Partey, we're good on high level 6 depth. We need high level left 8 depth. There’s no quality 6s this summer. So let's get Merino for relatively cheap this summer and save our powder for a superstar 6 next summer.

After David’s news tonight regarding Chido, it is clear there is something fundamentally wrong with the academy setup. We have seen very few given an opportunity in the first team, and ultimately they decide to move on. It’s time the youth are given a chance.

Hey Charles, Bright from Uganda. What do make of the club selling the homegrown players in favour of players from outside and who are almost of the same level? I mean, what would come into your mind if you were Chido Martin and you see Smith Rowe being sold in favour of retaining Fabio Viera? I can see this arsenal losing several other young players because they seem to have no clear path to first seem football at the club. Man city making a lot of money out of similar profiles to the players we keep losing for 2/3million 😂

Hey Charles Are you also fine with Obi Martin leaving? Because in my opinion, if Arsenal felt like that was the best offer, that‘s enough. We shouldn‘t start overpaying academy players. But there is also the thought in my head like Hutchinson, where Chelsea paid him a higher salary and was able to sell him and get some good money in… COYG

Thoughts on Obi Martin potentially going to man united of all clubs. All clubs loose some academy players but arsenal have a massive problem imo. Clubs like Chelsea and city wouldn’t be loosing a talent like this. Those clubs also leverage their academy talent by selling those that wouldn’t making it in their first teams but arsenal consistently loose players for nothing. Thoughts?

Charles i am sure you will cover the Chido Obi to Man Utd story but Martin Zubimendi is also being linked with Man Utd as well. This is much more interesting as Arsenal has been following him for more then 2 years and it is no secret that Arteta is a big admirer of the player. We also know that Zubimendi loves staying at Real Sociedad which makes a possible transfer very difficult. But, if Man Utd can pull it off, i would like to see how Arsenal react because he does really look like that Arteta type of player and if he is open to a transfer i can't see Arsenal missing out on this deal.

Great content as always! With Chido, all the reports are that the club had made every effort to keep him. If he’s going to go to United, then it’s purely a financial decision rather than a footballing one and if, at 16, he’s more interested in the money, then frankly I don’t want Arsenal to keep him. I know it doesn’t look great for us to lose two promising kids on the same window, and he could go on to absolutely smash it. But equally, who knows how he’s going to adjust to playing men’s football?! If he’s showing, as a kid, that he’s a mercenary then they’re welcome to him because the pathway at United is no clearer than at Arsenal. At least moving abroad allows him to sign pro terms!

Arsenal should start positioning themselves and setting aside money to buy Erling Haaland next year. If Manchester City get relegated. Him and Ødegaard on the same team will be guaranteed titles.

The bottom line on Chido is not playing but more money. He ain’t getting into any top team first team in the next 2-3 yrs so his camp trying to secure as much money as possible until he is actually ready.

For Extra time Usually we need to.improve our squad better than last season ... Everyday we sees a link with a winger ...midfielder....defender...yet not a concrete link ....for me if we dont buy a 20 goal scorer and a backup for saka .....we'll struggle to win the league ..and remember weve ucl....fa...cara... Were tooo late ..we also have to be aggressive in selling also ...wt are both your thoughts on this .... .thnxxx for your videos ..loves it ... From mauritius big fan of this good job charles

DeclanRice has been over played at Arsenal during the season and you can add a heap of games to that re Euros .It would be highly unfair to judge his form Late in the season as an 8 or a 6 as in my opinion he was suffering Burnout and as for the Euros form the England Team were unballanced and he wasn't afforded a break and was played and played .what do you expect. He is versatile , and can play both positions but even with his enormous stamina , needs to be rotated to let him play at his best , for Club and Country. My does this sound like it could be applied to Saka as well to play at his best injury Free.

Tricky window but my god it takes Arsenal forever on transfers most years, frustrating but I see them struggling this year bc of the rough fixtures to start with and just falling off…still top 4 but nowhere near a title challenge, hopefully they can win a cup and shut ppl up about that but not sure they’ll put enough of an effort there other than CL.

Really really poor from Arsenal A month in. No new signings. I don’t want to hear excuses about the euros; or other teams lack of business. WE need to go up a level, win things and compete. We need to buy players and stop being so arrogant talking about ‘market opportunities’. Market opportunities are essentially sitting back and waiting in hope something pops up. That is a dreadful approach:
