Dave ; you are superb. Keep up your excellent work . 76 to 84 was my era ; after that I struggled to sit or stand 90 mins with back trouble. Before I watch it , wonder if they will show Souness nutmegging Brian Talbot and David Johnson hitting at Pat Jennings . Edit , later ashamed of myself , mixing up two attacks. It was Case set up Johnson, Souness set up Dalglish. Souness had done Talbot the same way in the 3-0 at Anfield in April that year for our third goal . Also forgot Terry Mc hitting the post . What a player he was for three years ; 1977 -80. Amazing that was considered a dull game . Clear penalty ; O’Leary held back Dalglish in first ten minutes at Hillsborough a few months later too and got away with it. Not that I’m bitter 🙂 So interesting hearing Phil Thompson’s comments about Tottenham ; I think I said earlier on Dave’s post of the 2-1 at Anfield they were very impressive in their defeat a week or so earlier . Offside trap was frustrating but they were a real threat. Loved that black and white away strip. Cost me £2 for a stand ticket on the day to that match. Would’ve been about £15 nowadays. How much better value for money was then.

I tell people today we use lie around me aunties flat on a Saturday and decide at late as 1pm if we would go to Anfield. I use put Football Focus on to influence my lazy Uncle.£1.50 in to see Kenny, Souness and the European Champions elect in front of 33,000 (Anfield held 45,000 then). All on your doorstep. My Uncle sons would not be interested in going - rather spend the money go to a club that night, music and talk to girls (girls? ugh - what do they know about footy). I thought they were mad but I always wondered as a kid why the grounds were not full and would football survive as a lot of games back then were boring 1-0s

It kind of made my smile seeing Terry Neill smoking a cigarette at 4.08 - it wasn't as uncommon as you might think back then for players and managers to smoke - throwback to a different era

Both teams didn't seem to be at their best. I think it was this season I had(and completed!) a Panini sticker album and as an 8 and 9 year old I could remember most players from most teams but certainly Liverpool. I grew up in Portchester (not far from Portsmouth) and it's funny to me that Graham Rix of Arsenal here went on to manage Portsmouth and later AFC Portchester!
