As a United fan I will argue with anyone that Wenger is definitely a premier league legend. I know he didn't win much towards the end, but I mostly attribute it to lack of funds due to the Emirates construction and the constant sale of quality players he developed, plus the quality of football every iteration of his team played was legendary. The Premier league won't be where it is now, without his contribution.

If Wenger was given half the resources of Guardiola he would have won the league at least 3 more times, the board deeply let him and the club down. He was only given a measly £10m to spend on a keeper one summer transfer and yet some how finished second at the end of the season, we were always one DM, one CM or one FW away from winning the title but the toxic dual ownership fucked him over hard. Wenger carried Arsenal on a shoestring only to get disrespected by rent boy Mourinho and his sugar daddy pocket money.

Wenger is not just Arsenal...he was instrumental in getting the EPL in getting football to the level it was. He had elevate the level of football to a higher level. And let's not forget his time was while it was the time the Stadium was being constructed and money was scare...he had to let go of many star players....specially to Man City...what a horrible time that was. Let's not forget that he took that in his stride and managed all of the circumstances of the time. Kudos to him. RESPECT!!!

The fact that this is even a discussion is insane. Wenger changed the premier league with style of play and dietary requirements. He won the league without losing a game (I don’t care about draws). He produced the best striker the league has ever seen and adapted him into what he became. He came close to winning UCL but when your players get sent off for not hearing the whistle for an offside it’s out of your hands. Watch his documentary the man is pure class.

Yes the City vs Liverpool title races of recent times were more relentless and high quality but for me the Arsenal vs United/Wenger vs Ferguson rivalry of the late 90s/early 2000s remains the greatest premier league rivalry. It was passionate. It was intense. It was, at times, highly fierce and bad tempered. But there always remained a mutual respect that they were the two iconic teams and the two iconic manager's that forged the EPL into what it is today. So many amazing nostalgic memories.

How is it even remotely a debate that Wenger is a legend? The man revolutionised the English game, went a whole season undefeated thus the only golden EPLtrophy was awarded, and kept Arsenal in the CL for a consecutive 18yrs, which at the time only Real Madrid had a better record. The man spent little, won the double twice, designed and supported the build of the current stadium, along with training grounds, gym facilities, player diets etc. Wenger will always be a legend. The man sacrificed his marriage and family for the club. We will never forget. Wenger is eternally Arsenal.

Wenger kept the club afloat through a period of very slim resources. To continue getting CL year after year was success. Within this he developed loads of talent and played brilliant football. Don’t forget he also won the FA cup twice on the bounce towards the end of his tenure and the double earlier in his reign. I'd put it this way in terms of them saying "wenger isn't top 2 anymore" because of Mourinho & pep. Let me give you an example from another sport. Why do you think people call Ali the goat in boxing? he definitely is not the best fighter in the history of boxing nor even his own era, he lost 5 times in that era, it's his influence over the sport and the sheer admiration that people had for him which has aligned him with "goat" status, the same applies to Arsene Wenger, he is top 2 not because of what his teams won or the way his teams played the game, it's the fact that he revolutionized the game in our country, brought more eyes than ever to the league and ultimately helped shape football into what it is today all from the sidelines.

The issue with this debate is it always lacks context. Like put Mou, Pep, Ancelotti, etc. at Arsenal during that 9 year period with the budget they had for new signings, selling off their best players, and having to rely on young players. Do you honestly believe the results would be different? I mean Mou can’t even make the UCL, win an Italian Cup, or finish above Lazio while at Roma 😂. Mourino and Pep are stellar, but you cannot ignore the tools they at thier disposal in the PL. Arsene was a different breed. An artist. When it was good it was beautiful. You had to just watch and take it in. But it wasnt consistent. Considering the early days I say a PL legend.

Basing Wengers legacy in the Premier league just on trophies is very short sighted to say the least. He pretty much revolutionised football worldwide. Everything we take for granted now. The analytics, nutrition, psychology, coaching and scouting is based on his blueprint. The Premier league was playing catch up to Serie A and the rest of the continent in the early/mid 90s and he helped to bridge that gap. Arsenals DNA today, the stadium, the footballing heritage, the brand, is all him. Not to mention his trophies, consistency over more than 2 decades and a 0 loss campaign that the likes of the modern greats Liverpool and City have not been able to match. To say his status as a Premier league legend is up for debate, shows a huge lack of respect and I would even question your resume and football knowledge to come out with such crap. Even die hard spurs fans would find it hard to disagree Wenger is a Premier league icon.

Rio, Carrick, Rooney, Berbatov, Veron, Anderson, RVN, Nani, Hargreaves & many more are all more expensive than any player wenger signed for his first 16 years! That is double the length of his 'super successful' period (96-04). I personally think keeping top 4 for so long after the visionary of the club Dein left & under shambolic ownership period is just as good a job as anything Wenger did in that first period. Judging only via results & outcomes is very shortsighted.
