The mushroom dance is considered one of the most charming pieces of animation ever made. The Goofy walk Babbit created should be studied by ANY animator. My personal favorite Gepetto scene is where he hands Pinocchio an apple and points for him to turn around. The poses and how he drew his hands are ingenious.

Good golly. Wow. Art Babbitt must have lived an enormously creative life. His animation of the wonderful looking yet frightful Queen (shown here at 9:17-9:29) is so impeccable in Snow White and so vibrant, you couldve sworn that you were watching a painting, being brought to cellouid.

Thanks for making this video. Babbitt was brilliant, but because he fell out with Walt, he doesn't get the acknowledgement he deserves.

As much as Art Babbit was a major figure in the history of Disney animation, he was a bit cavalier in some of his actions as indicated by Dick Huemer. In Dick's words, he felt that Babbit thought he was indispensable. Some felt that he started to cross a line when he took up the cause of the lower level workers and took the lead in the 1941 Strike. Some feel that a Strike could have been avoided, but indications are that Art's agitation of the Strike destroyed his status with Disney, as he was eventually given less interesting scenes as a means to have him quit, which he did. It is a shame that while, Art Babbit's contribution to Disney animation was important. But there is something to be said about being too antagonist against one's employer.

That's a pretty good assessment from what I've read; then again Babbitt's old roommate Bill Tytla was, to put it mildly, caught right in the middle of the strike for his own part. Yet another story!

4:09-4:13 Goofy's career (provided 2 years later by Babbitt) started in 1932, approximately when the short "Mickeys Revue" came out.

10:22-11:39 Again the animation of Geppetto in Pinocchio is unique, surpassing "Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs". In what i read and saw (from a book called “The Walt Disney Film Archives: The Animated Movies 1921-1968”), the character (in early stages of the production) was originally fat and bald. At least, Gustaf Tenggren's color sketch indicates so. Obviously, in those days, the action was going slow, if not fast enough. Glacial, even. Therefore, Walt Disney, wisely enough and on the dot, felt Geppetto needed to be emphasized through some emotion and give Pinocchio tons of warmth. And his father-like personality had to be shown as visibly as possible. And with the ingenuity of Art Babbitt and the top notch Teutonic chutzpah of a voice done by Christian Rub, that helped the film. The warmth helped it enormously. So the weight of Geppetto was reduced to a more slim, hard working, robust and healthy man. Part woodcarver part clockmaker.

A story retold with Don Bluth, another essential cog and creative genius, driven out by the corporation mentality at Disney. Don would go on to make Secret Of Nimh, possible one of the top 5 animated movies ever, and brought about a talent drain as many other critical and talented members picked working with Don over staying at Disney. You can directly see the negative effect it had on Disney in the late 70's and 80's.

The baddest? Maleficent is the Mistress of All Evil but okay. Men really need to stop making Disney videos because yall know nothing
@Dizographies

Actually (pushes up nerd glasses) Maleficent is a fairy, at least in the Disney version. Of all the witches in Disney Animated Movies, I’m not sure who I would call the baddest, but the Evil Queen is very high on the list since she attempts murder. Mother Gothel and Ursula are also in the running. I see you love Maleficent! I do too! Check out our videos on her, She really is amazing and so is her Animator: Marc Davis, and Voice Actress: Eleanore Audley! She is probably my second fav Disney villain, only next to Cruella (purely for nostalgia reasons). To your second point, If you take a look at the description, you’ll see the writer on this show is a girl (Hi I’m Amber, nice to meet you) I’m also the producer. The amazing narrator you hear in our videos is Lee. However, I would like to point out that I know many men who are very knowledgeable at Disney lore, and some who know more than me, like our magnificent Script Supervisor Adam. Since we are all Disney Fans here, let's be kind to each other. As Eeyore says: “A little Consideration, a little Thought for Others, makes all the difference.”
