soufiane amabraa Yes, I think so. Also, I looked at the photos you shared of your pan set and it says "gauche" and "tempera" on it so it is an opaque watercolor or gouache set like the grumbacher's I was showing you. This is good, because you can use the set you have to paint opaquely (gouache style) as well--if you want to see any videos of me using my own old grumbacher pan set for reference, here they are two: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZqZo2CkZdp9o6c or kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2ObYpiPmdtlosU

I had the same thoughts. Good examples of light wash effects and unified compositions. But the faces... yikes! Perhaps shes trying to make them stylized. There is a good drawing book for beautiful fantasy faces by Ed Org. It's the most advanced book I've seen on fantasy drawing, and one of the few I'd still use at this point. Now I typically use photo references for faces bc they're so important.

Thanks for mentioning the Org book--I took a quick glance at it on Amazon; it looks like a lovely book. Will try to check it out in detail when I get the chance. I agree about the importance of faces--whether done simply or detailed they are an inevitable focal point and need to be taken seriously.

I admit, the faces are not to my liking as well. Always thought they are too stylized. Nevertheless I just started working through the book ;)

Awesome! There are a lot of nice watercolor backgrounds and textures she shows that should be a lot of fun to learn.

Hajra Meeks It is quite out of my comfort zone and I am totally interested in where this will lead me. I very much like what she does with watercolors in every aspect.
