The paintings that Red Velvet recreated that we mentioned were: “Ophelia” by John Everett Millais “Woman with a Parasol - Madame Monet and Her Son” by Claude Monet “The Garden of Earthly Delights” by Hieronymus Bosch Upon rewatching we also think that the shot of Irene on the swing at the beginning is probably referencing “The Swing” by Jean-Honoré Fragonard And the classical piece sampled throughout the song is “Air on the G String” by Johann Sebastian Bach ;)

This Feel My Rhythm got a lot of hint: 1. Joy lying on water (Ophelia - John Everett Milley) 2. Irene swing ("The Swing" - Fragonard) 3. Irene with umbrella with Seulgi ("The Woman Holding the Umbrella" - Monet) 4. Yeri Hair Style with strawberry ("Four Seasons" - Mucha) 5. At the End of the MV is the fountain frome from the painting of Hieronymus Bosch , it can be found in The Garden of Earthly Delights 6. Seulgi standing on the ladder (paul dominique - lady looking behind the wall) 7. Wendy & Yeri looking at Joy in the water (paul dominique - Nymphs Finding the Head of Orpheus) Hieronymus Bosch painting is all related to this Feel My Rhythm MV including the RedVelvet all sitting inside of room with a table (actually is a monster)(Climbing the Ladder: On Hieronymus Bosch's Vision of Hell) This is a Triptych - a single narrative artwork split into 3 panels. the castle at the end of the MV is in the first panel. There are still got a lot of thing I still haven't done the research yet. So Reveluv : We might get a lot of comeback this year. Prepare for it Luvies!💝💛💙💚💜 Oh, I also forgot the theory of strawberry, can't remember it.

In this MV some members represent spring and others represent winter. The aim is to highlight the contrast between day/night, light/darkness. But I think baroque would be so much common in this context, so they decided to bring Bosch's art. The painting here is not used literally, it only serves as an inspiration for some concepts and for the setting, and it's just perfect

Your video popped up in my feed and i wanted to see if fellow art lovers reacted with as much amazement as i did on first sight....and you did! Do watch it again. There are many more paintings and Bosch scenes that you missed. I had no idea about anything in the video beforehand - art or music - and near fell off my chair upon immediately hearing Bach and seeing the Millais Ophelia expanded into Waterhouse’s Orpheus. I had never seen such an MV before. Bosch was everywhere - from beginning, middle, and end. I saw that iconic Fragonard painting (another wow moment) and Monet’s Woman with Parasol first go-round. The girls gathering flowers was super familiar and i had to watch 3x and go through my Pre-Raphaelites art books (it had that vibe) before placing it as another Waterhouse (gather ye roses). I am a huge fan of Waterhouse, and I saw the Garden of Earthly Delights at the Prado. I bought a huge portfolio book of that painting at the museum’s shop and have studied the imagery details a great deal. There are at least 20 images in that video that are from Bosch. How mind-blowing. Even the boat that they are on in the scenes from Swan Lake are in the Bosch painting. It’s fun finding them all. Give it a go! In terms of theme through pictures in that video, it’s as obvious as a knock on the head. That video was my inauguration into Red Velvet and I’m now a huge fan of all they do and have done. I applaud Red Velvet’s production team for keeping classical art and music alive among RV’s primary audience.

also in relation to the story i saw this comment on a different video and thought it was super interesting the comment was by Emily Edgan but this is what they wrote "Gibson suggests that the strawberry imagery might connected to a text by Virgil (which probably would have been familiar to Bosch and Hendrik III because Virgil’s passage is referenced in Roman de la Rose, a popular poem in the Burgundian court). In this text, Virgil warns children to not gather strawberries, because “the cold, evil serpent” is hiding the grass nearby. It seems to me that Bosch’s strawberries could serve as an indirect reference to a serpent (and, by extension, the Fall and sin). Such associations fit well with the imagery for The Garden of Earthly Delights" which made me understand a bit more the storyline or referencing ^_^
