How lovely this image is, reminds me of Stephanie Pui Man Law (hope I've remembered her name correctly! Love the blend of colours. Thanks again for yet another beautiful video!

Beautiful art work! Thankyou for your in-depth review of these, your a wealth of information! I've seen a 18 tube gouache set pop up on Amazon Canada, have you tried them?
@KimberlyCrick3 жыл бұрын
Yes I tried the gouache, it's a very low quality bargain set. It has a lot of fillers and instantly cracks into tiny pieces on the palette as it starts to dry. I was not very happy with it, but could see it being suitable as a crafter or kids intro set.

@@KimberlyCrick Thanks for letting me know! I'll definitely pass on that and continue to slowly buy single tubes to grow a small collection:)

Thank you for letting me know to buy SWC over these. Have you heard anything on a new release from White Nights yet?
@KimberlyCrick4 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen anything else from White Nights since the start of the year, but I suspect that if they were planning more new color releases it might be delayed a while now. They had started to make some metal tin sets, but they had the colors I already own in them. I hope they will do more releases this year, I was so happy with the most recent colors :D
@HeatherBryant224 жыл бұрын
@@KimberlyCrick I figured they were on hold, just thought I would ask. I haven't seen the tin colors but since I have all but the gold set I have them as well. Now to wait...

I'm surprised at the amount of packaging. I'd rather put my money into quality of product. I think I'll give these ones a miss. Thank you for the in depth review. 😊

Heather Bryant, White Nights 2020 new colours are available from SAA and Artifolk in the UK. (seven full pans) Also their pastel colours release.(six full pans)
I adore PBr25 so I was tempted to check out the art philosophy/prima site and see what their prices were like, etc. I don't know how you figured out which colors to buy. There are no swatches, no pigment information, anywhere that I can see on their website. If they were hoping to appeal to professional artists, that's a no-go. I'll just buy another tube from Mission Gold. :) Thanks so much for this great information! Beautiful painting as always!

I know, it's a pain finding good info where you expect to find it from Prima. Can't go wrong with Mission Gold though, love them so much. Thank you for chiming in, I always appreciate your comments :)

That's interesting. Too bad I'm broke. Or, probably a good thing so I don't buy more friggin paints I got a bunch of van gogh paints a few weeks back. They are really nice. I'm not a professional artist though so not extremely qualified to speak on it. All the colors I got are single pigment (they have a lot) and the dusk series combo pigment paints, very pretty granulating colors, I love them. In conjunction with granulating medium just fantastic

Can't go wrong with Van Gogh, they have some of the best student grade watercolors available. What's really nice, is that even if you decide to try your hand at selling your art, or making more pieces to hang on the wall, Van Gogh has a reallly lightfast color range. I use them all the time :D

I just watched this video again and your tree spirit is amazing, I was just thinking, you would make a beautiful coloring book!! Id love to see your take on a beautiful mermaid under the sea...anyway, Ive always been too scared to invest in less popular pro grade paints, since like you stated in this video; their lightfast ratings are a little sketchy and confusing. Anyway great video. Thanks for sharing♥️

I like their pans, I was really rooting for the tubes but they don't seem to be very artist quality, more studio/student since the lack of lightfastness ratings. Your image turned out great and that skin tone is flawless 💖😘

I think it's good to investigate about the origin of those prima marketing "pro" paints. They're probably shinhan. I think Mijellos are more expensive in comparison. The pan watercolors from prima are from the same factory as mungyo. Love that painting!
@KimberlyCrick4 жыл бұрын
Mijello Mission Gold doesn't use as many fugitive pigments either. If these aren't from the ShinHan factory, they are at least so comparable it's good to know. Thank you so much for chiming in :)
@mettainacan78134 жыл бұрын
Love your artwork as always! All I know about Shinhan watercolours is that an artist here on youtube called Noma uses them, her work is incredible! I have one prima set: the pastels, and I do really like it, but can't see myself buying any others... and certainly not tubes even if artistic quality. They look lovely in your work but don't excite me enough to want to go out and buy them.
@lindyashford77444 жыл бұрын
I would just buy the Shinhan colours. I know about their fugitive colours, they are an primarily illustration range rather than being archivally sound, if you understand this then you use them for illustration, i.e. not for work where you display the original. And thats fine by me. Loved your illustration, I like the way you seem to know what you eventually want and go through the process anyway, even the bits where it looks weird for a while. Thats where I tend to be impatient with my own work, and I appreciate seeing the patient approach you take. Really nice colour mixes too from a slightly improbable palette of colours. Lovely.

I was so happy to see a notification from your channel - I love how detailed your reviews are, and I love your art! I can't find these paints on any local to me art or craft shop's websites yet, so I don't really know how to think of them. My expectations and demands of a paint definitely varies by price point. I don't mind fugitive colors for sketchbook type work, or work I'd primarily scan for digital use. I do find it odd that such a large proportion of their range is fugitive, and I'm generally not a big fan of non-standard rating systems. Honestly I'd rather not have a rating at all than an obviously weird rating, that seems more honest and useful to me. The weirdness is only obvious to people who already know what to look for, but brands like Art Philosophy will probably have a lot of buyers who don't have that prior knowledge who might not know to be wary of the lightfastness discrepancies. I'd hate to see someone use opera or rose madder or aureolin and then be disappointed (I know this lineup didn't have aureolin, but it's the first one I thing of when talking fugitive colors - it doesn't just fade, it turns grey!!).
@KimberlyCrick4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, I'm glad to hear that, I always worry maybe I'm putting too much detail into things and bombarding people with info lol. I was able to find these paints on only a couple craft supply sites so far. I put in a link in the description to where I found mine, but at an average of $7-$12 per tube I'm not feeling super inclined to buy more of these (especially in comparison to Shinhan). I know, that weird lightfast info made me wish they had just NOT included any info at all!!! I was so sad the first time I saw my aureolin turn grey, it was yucky! So sad that labels still don't properly warn about that pigment either. Thanks again for your awesome comments on my videos :D

@@KimberlyCrick Honestly, there's no lack of "light", condensed video reviews - everyone covers the basics when reviewing, that's why I appreciate the more in-depth ones even more! Hm, Daniel Smith's 15 ml tubes start at around $10, series 2 is around $13 in Sweden. I don't think I'd have much of a reason to buy the Art Philosophy tubes for such a small price difference - series 1 and 2 is more than enough to build a decent palette. And, of course, White Nights is always an option - their 10 ml tubes cost $4-$6 here. I don't think I really see a reason to buy these Art Philosophy tube paints. The pans are fun predetermined palettes, and I LOVE that the palettes have that large middle row, it bothers me so much that that's not industry standard (White Nights tins have three rows of the little metal grippy things, I love them), but these tubes? If I want cheap I'd rather buy White Nights, if I want a big brand I'll buy Daniel Smith. 🤷 Edit: I mean, they don't follow a niche *for me* - obviously that'll differ significantly depending on where you live and what you have access to. But for my circumstances, they don't really offer anything I can't find in other, more established brands.
