I found your Channes some days ago and i like it. The selfmade desk is amazing. Thank you for showing so many useful things about music equipment.

There's a trim on the tube output power amp, to balance the channels...."matched tubes" usually aren't properly burn in and even of they year as matched on the factory, they may not actually be a matched.

I've been looking for a video on this piece gear for a little while now as I'm looking to get one soon. I'm diving in to the analog side of mixing and I really appreciate you taking the time to make this video! Any other recommended must have analog gear for a beginner to analog would be awesome!

The ART Pro VLA is probably the most affordable compressor with tube output stage that you can drive to get great colouration.

For the channels being different volume: There's a video on KZbin on how to balance it inside the unit on an adjustment screw.

Thanks. I have already done it.

I 've had my Pro VLA II for 10 years. With the factory tubes. Are there better compressors out there? Yes, Better at this price point? no And that being said your going to have to spend a Lot more money to get something remotely better

Better than dbx 286s?

Once a person learns how to use it properly you don't need the "high priced" compressors. This thing is a BEAST.

I'm sorry for the question but why didn't you make us listen to some audio example?

Had you watched the video till the end, you would have known why :) The title also reads "Part 1"

How many compressions do vocals usally go thru?
@RecordingStudio94 жыл бұрын
I normally run through 2 and up to 4, then Fader automation, depending on the recorded material.

is vla 2 if the oversized output will come out "high noise" or uncomfortable sound?
@RecordingStudio94 жыл бұрын
Due to incorporating a valve tube, there will always be some noise, but this is low enough not be noticeable.

How do you get unity gain for this compressor and thanks

Myself, I send a 440Hz sinewave tone out to it at -3dbFS, this should give you -3db on the meters set to input signal in the bypass mode. If not, you need to adjust your Audio Interface output level. I set the output level to 0db on the unit, then adjust my Audio Interface input level to give me -3db on the meters of my DAW track input meters. Hope this helps.
