I'd like to try it. However, I probably can't afford it. Also, it still sounds like I'd be spending all my time on the webpage, social media, marketing, and not painting. I was stressed out after watching the video, lol.

I am not a member of Art Storefronts, but after what just happened after listening to some videos by them, I might now join. I am an artist who has painted a bunch of celebrity portraits and has attracted little interest. Art Storefronts gave me a marketing idea that was so obvious. Each of my paintings represented a potential niche market made up of specific fans. I joined FB fan pages to get eyeballs on my work and was able to direct people to two sales in the last 24 hours and a couple of leads. The paintings got hundreds of likes in total whereas before nobody was seeing them. Hope this helps somebody else. Thank you.

Why do people have to call in order to get more information or a demo? That's usually an indicator that they will be pressured to purchase. If you were up front with everything from the start, giving people what they want to know before making a purchase, you'd get more sales. Price is a big issue for most people as they want to know where they stand ... can they afford it, how much will they have to save or budget for, etcetera. Most people want to know this BEFORE they commit to anything, and without having to talk on the phone where they feel pressured to make a decision.

Nah. We don't pressure anybody. We find if you are not willing to invest 15 minutes of your time on a exploratory phone call then we have not convinced you yet(we hope) that we know what we are doing.

They don't pressure you. They do give you the price once you're on the phone. The only thing I don't like is that you get followed up with via email by lots of different salespeople. I plan to do it once I have the money, so I guess I'll just contact whichever the latest salesperson approaches me at that time. I usually prefer to stick with the one I connected with.

How is this better than Etsy? How do the two of you compare in terms of serving the artist supplying the art?

YOUR marketing is kick-ass, breaks through the corporate crap of larger enterprises. I am in Canada, and not keen on shipping and tariff issues that can come with dealing with the USA or other foreign markets. What percentage of your artists are from OUTSIDE of the USA?

Still this is a good start. Art and painting is work, ....then selling is a whole set of other skills. , How and the market. Painting is one form of art that has its best sales or exposure platform Illustration is another form of art expression, that has it unique platform. I am 81 years old and I am sure I have gained a pretty well rounded experience selling both my skills and final pieces of art. The internet, Street Fairs, and galleries pretty much cover your art exposure points. I think a failing point of many artist, is they try to paint a perfect paining., or create a perfect illustration, passing the completion point of their work. Art is the expression of an artist's skill, not what someone else thinks it should be. Over doing could be a failing in certain situations.

In this video he mentions sales among the 2,000+ artists at $10.8 million in Q4 of 2018. That averages to $5,400 per artist, at best. I assume this is a gross number? So printing costs and shipping need to be paid out of the $5,400. I might guess those costs are 50%? Thus, that would leave $2,700 net income per artist for the quarter. I also might estimate that Q4 sales are about 1/2 the annual sales for an artist selling online? So is $5,400 a net-gross income to expect before one then pays site and other marketing costs? I'm curious what others are finding.

This particular business is not one that lends itself to averages sadly. I really wish it did but each artists story is just so so different. The premise of your analysis is that there is a formula and then secondarily a formula that works for each and every artists revenue - moreover one that will apply to you and your business. Nothing could be further from the truth. Its such a mixed bag. We have customers that have 5k followers on Instagram that sell 10x then others that have over a 1mm followers on IG. How do you explain things like that right? Underscores the point that each artists story is unique to them. Focus to take away from it all is if you solve fort the marketing problem and work at it consistently and DO NOT STOP.... Then you give yourself the best chance at having your sales results map to your desires for the business.

Also... if anybody anywhere in this industry tells you there is a some sort of magic formula that can predict your results... they are lying and run away as quickly as possible.

This sounds like too much stuff. When will I have time to start doing art again. Can an artist just have an agent in the company to handle all of the marketing so the artist. (Me) can mostly just concentrate on doing art?

All I see is another Etsy that doesn't move anything except mine (or my sister's) money into their pockets for processing... We already have a diversified number of art projects as it is, and we already have the virtual versions of wall art as it would be seen on a wall within the Etsy marketplace... Again, absolutely nothing! This is all talk and little action... No mention of start up costs, which Etsy actually does run down, yet you want my personal info... When they say, "Trust Us", you usually can't... No thanks! BTW, the only way to truly market art these days is if a wealthy gallery seller sees it and picks up your sponsorship along with the risk, in which he/she recieves a larger percentage of the proceeds than you do - IF your art gets noticed at all - Especially now, when most people cannot afford to rub two nickles together! You sounds like just another pipe dream to me... Forget it!
