Love how you noticed how the forest had more sketchy and rounded style while the town had a more stiff and sharp style. I'm sure you noticed how Robyn gradually gained a sketchier style as she became one with the forest more than a townsgirl, which is an aspect I loved! This is honestly one of my favorite movies for the art, music, and the wolves of course, so nice to see it getting so much exposure with it being unfortunately hidden away on Apple TV

Funny how you keep hoping for the dad not dying given how he's voiced by Sean Bean who is known to die in a lot of movies.

I love how they do visualization of shapes and how they represent the scenes and residents. The town and the people in it all have square, rectangle and block like shapes as their base. While the forests, wilderness, Mebh (wolf girl) and Moll (wolf mom) all have round and curved shapes to their base designs. A unique thing about Robin (hunter girl) and her father Bill is they are the only ones to have more angular and diamond like bases, this shows how they are a combination of the two different worlds.

Wow you noticed the woodblock backgrounds right away! I’m a printmaking major focusing on woodcut and it took me a few minutes to notice, I love seeing it talked about haha. I’ve always known the ‘bits that aren’t carved out’ as chatter, and the ‘aligning the blocks’ as registration. I’m surprised you didn’t comment on how Robyn’s animation switched between hard lines and sketchy depending on if she was being ‘wild’ or not, that’s one of my favorite touches!

If there are any other films with beautiful animation and story maybe you’d interested in seeing “The Legend of Princess Kaguya” it’s a Ghibli film, however not directed by Miyazaki- the art style is different from other ghibli films because their really going for that old watercolor Japanese ink brush like in those old paintings! I think it will definitely a pleasing visual experience!

This vision that the girl sees is the same as when you use your 'instinct in hitman. It's called wolf vision.

Razaq is a true ally. #StanRazaq2021! Seriously though, it's an amazing movie. But it is pretty hard to stomach the heavier scenes.

Definitely give it a watch, especially as a Cartoon Saloon production.

I looked it up, a scullery is a small kitchen or room placed at the back of the house used for washing dishes and household chores. Basically, the dude's saying that the daughter needs a job as a kitchen maid.

There’s a really lovely blu ray collection of the three Irish Folklore movies for people that might want to watch them without going through Apple TV!

Also angular is English. Curved is Irish in terms of the artistic language here

Scullery was complex. It was basic kitchen hand, laundry and maid work. A scullery maid was how most young girls started work for a long time in England.

A father's love *always* prevails for his child, no matter what the offspring looks like. I really like this scene. Bill became the very thing he has hunted for so long, but that didn't matter to him. All that mattered to him was protecting his daughter. Never anger the wolf. You will get the fangs, otherwise. Never lock the wolf in a cage. You'll only make him\her more dangerous. Cromwell portrayed here was not a man of God. He was a slave of religion. The Chains of Fear amplified his hatred toward the unknown. In time, his pride and self righteousness blinded him form seeing the light witch lead to his death. He chose to kill himself out of fear instead of understanding. Magnificent. I think I encapsulated this scene perfectly. When I realized what happened to Bill, I almost screamed with joy. And when I saw what he looked like, I was sure: Oliver Cromwell was a dead man walking. My favourite of this, however, tied closely with Robyn disarming "The Lord Protector" with a single shot but it had to be when Bill's Lupus form intercepted Cromwell's sword with his teeth. At that moment, I could particularly hear him snarl "Only human.", right before he shatters the blade like sugar glass. It is at this point it becomes irrefutable: Oliver Cromwell is *nothing* before this Wild Magic.

I love how the town is all straight lines (even the characters; Robyn's hood is a rhombus) while the forest is all curves (even Mebh)

Yes it is the same as the pilgrims because it’s when Cromwell was bossing the Irish about. Puritan was rife in those times.
