ART STUDIO TOUR 2020 ✶ Including 'Before' Photos & Where I Bought My Furniture ✶ Natasha Newton

I finally filmed a full-length studio tour! In this video I'll show you around my workspace, talk about where I found my furniture, and you'll also get to see what the room looked like before we renovated it! My style is a mix of vintage and modern pieces - I bought items for my studio from auctions, vintage shops, IKEA, La Redoute, and Graham & Green, amongst others.
The studio is on the top floor of a Victorian country house overlooking the beautiful North Downs. It's a lovely light-filled space but can get very chilly in the winter, which is why we installed a wood burning stove. It's the most effective (and cheapest!) way of heating the room, particularly as we use wood from trees that have been cut down or have fallen within the grounds of the house.

Are those Colour coordinated books on your bookshelf reference books? As in in-depth image references and all that on specific subjects? It would be great to see how you use them, I definitely need to get some good reference books myself. Lovely studio, and I love the fact you have a cozy wood burner in there too ❤️

Thanks! They're my little collection of Observer's Books. Lots of different subjects; I don't really use them that much as reference for paintings though. I'm going to be doing an updated studio tour soon as I've changed the layout of the studio a bit, and I'll talk more about the books then! (Although the books could be quite an interesting subject for another video too...) 🧡

Thanks Oliver! The green dome is now part of the house (enclosed, with windows/rooms) but years ago it would have been open at the top (under the copper dome) and a string quartet would have played for the people having afternoon tea in the garden below. Does that make sense?! It has a little iron staircase that leads to the top on the outside. I still feel like a bit of a newbie (I've been doing it for a year) and as if I'm learning all the time! I bought a printer back in 2013, an Epson R3000. It's a great printer, fantastic quality, and has been very reliable for the past 6-7 years. I'm not using it at the moment, and I'm thinking about switching to just getting a few prints made through a printing company, rather than doing it all myself, for various reasons. But I'd definitely recommend it! I hope that helps! xx

That's a good idea, Cindy! I do have a lot of furniture that is second hand or vintage, from auctions etc. that cost me very little. But I do love this bookcase! The style of it was exactly what I was looking for, and it's so well made. I enjoy it every day so I guess that it was worth the money!
