Instead, I think I will start now to get my collection going and then try to sell. Don't worry I'll allow myself years to get there. Just the way you have Charmaine Olivia's print on your wall to pay homage to her... I promise one day I will have a print of yours on mine. I'm Nancy Martini from Canada and it is so nice to meet you.

Hi, Katie! :) Could you talk a bit more aboute varnishing? (What it is, how to do it, etc).Do you varnish all of your paintings? Love the video! xx
@KatieJobling4 жыл бұрын
I usually just use the spray varnish. I wait at least 48 hours after an acrylic painting to dry. And months for an oil painting to fully dry. Then give them three light coats of varnish in well ventilated area. With long enough to dry in between each coat. It’s not very often I varnish my paintings. With high quality paint, colours should last at least 100 years anyway. So it’s more for the look of the painting or if a customer requests it. Hope this helps 😀 xx

Thanks for the tour. And congrats on the baby! To make your squeaky wooden drawers not so squeaky, rub a candle against all the edges of the drawers, and I think you'll find they will glide nicely, and not be so awful to your ears. You can also try a bar of soap, but I suspect the candle wax will last longer and do a better job. Thanks for all your lovely videos. P.S. I LOVE the view out your studio window! MOO! 🐂🐃🐄

Definitely recommend doing as much art as you can before it gets too uncomfortable to sit or stand. You don't know how much you'll miss painting/drawing until you haven't done it in half a year, but just remember all is temporary. My baby was 9 months old when I was finally able to get art done again xD; but that's just my situation.

I /only/ use disposable shop towels made of recycled materials for cleaning my paints if I am using my zinc white, since that oil color is extremely toxic to the environment, especially aquatic life, I wipe my brushes thoroughly until I can't see a spec of white, and then I use a totally safe cleaning solution, I also use linseed oil, I keep the soaked rags in a fire safe, airtight container, then I take them to my local recycling and safe disposal area and hand them off to an employee to handle, that includesany hazardous items i use, even my scalpel blades, I put them in a metal can, I fill it up and bring it to the recycling plant.

Katie for the squeeky drawers you can sand them down slightly (wear a mask) or rub candle wax on the drawers where it rubs against the inside of the cabinet that might help. Or on the tracks the drawer runs on.

Katie I loved the tour! It gave me a few ideas for getting my own studio "organized". 🙄 Perhaps taking an old tapered candle that's become to short to be pretty could be useful when rubbed on the wooden cubby drawers to soften the dry grating sound. Its worth a try. I've also used them on dresser drawers. Its worked! CONGRATULATIONS on your pregnancy! I have 6 grandchildren. There's nothing like the joy that children bring into your lives. The world takes on a different perspective. Blessings to your little family. 💜

Wish I’d watched this video sooner, but I’m glad your sketches sold well. I love the packaging for your note cards. All I use are cellophane bags. Would love to know your source. As for my sketching locales, with my child around, it’s easiest to keep an eye on him and sketch either from the kitchen table, a corner of the sofa, or at my art station beside the dining table. The happiest moment was watching my child pick up the joy of drawing as well. He has pages and pages of Pete the Cat, Peppa Pig, and dinosaur drawings in his own collection of sketch books. He’s only six years old.💙🎨 Thank you for sharing your work. It was a pleasant trip down memory lane.😊
