Using an external preamplifier for recording specific tracks can be the difference between sounding professional and sounding like garbage. There are many brands and models on the market today and they all don’t sound the same. These devices have different attributes and affect connected sources in various ways. Quality brands are strongly recommended in this category if you can afford it based what you use them for. I wanted to share this information with anyone interested because it helped me up my game. I hope that it serves useful for you too. 👍🏿

I use my V3 for VO with a collection of mics Ribbon, Small, & Large diaphragm Condensers. I love the V3, however can you demystify the Voicing Knob .
@PowercoatMusic3 жыл бұрын
The voicing knob (V3) features ART’s proprietary V3 technology. V3 (which stands for Variable Valve Voicing), provides optimized reference points to begin the recording process for guitars, bass guitars, synths, acoustic instruments, percussion and more. ART ran the V3 pre-amplification circuit through a battery of tests and real life studio conditions. The result was a preamp that would be flexible enough to handle violins and kick drums, and nearly everything in between with the correct presets. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching. 👍🏿

@PowercoatMusic3 жыл бұрын
We know the tubes should be replaced periodically, depending on how much you use the unit. Heavy use (every day) would require more frequent replacement (yearly). The tube model is a "12AX7A, Dual Triode", which you should be able to find on eBay and such. Thanks for watching. 👍🏿

While it's primary application is to be used with a microphone, the Tube MP Studio V3 can also function as a direct box - impedance matching, amplifying, and improving the sound of any instrument plugged into it. The design of the Tube MP Studio V3 allows it to add warmth and fatness to a signal while maintaining low-noise. The Tube MP Studio V3 features all the tone and functionality of its predecessor, the Tube MP. Phase Reverse, +48v phantom power, clip LED, and a +20dB switch are all included, as well as an analog VU meter for visual tracking of the signal. I hope this helps and thanks for watching.

Again you make great content and the way you break it down is extremely well. Your tape on Roland Integra 7 had me get that box. A “go to” for high quality preset sound libraries. I may have to get this… have the TPS2 it seem like the rack version of this but I like it on instruments so if I got this it would be for vocals tracking for certain. Has the same 16 flavours as TPS2 on the main selector pot.

If you have a preamp built into your interface is there usually someway to turn it off or bi-pass it- or do you just have to stack this preamp with the one built into your interface? I guess you could just turn everything to neutral on the interface huh? I play guitar and sometimes you end up with multiple preamps between you and the power amp, it can get confusing. With this though I would just be tracking acoustic guitar and vocals so it would just be this and the preamp on my interface.

Hi! I'm using this preamp with an Audio Technica Pro 35 condenser mic clipped onto the bell of a trombone (a spiky input), so my main interest is the limiter. After the preamp, the next item in my signal path is an Eventide H9 stomp box. For the most part, this works fine, but there are certain effects (such as an AutoWah) that get easily overloaded and distort. I've been fooling with both the Input and Output controls on the ART, in conjunction with using one of the OPL settings on the big knob -- but still having trouble getting it set so a sharp attack doesn't overload the Eventide. (I've already got the input gain on the Eventide set as low as possible, which is the default setting anyway.) Is there a setting I need to use besides just selecting one of the OPL settings, to make it function as a limiter, so no matter how loud a note I nail on my horn, it won't overload? Or am I asking too much? :D Thanks!
