Hi. RE: your waterbrushes that never dry out. I don't know if it would work with your mediums/media, but I put just a drop or two of alcohol in my waterbrushes to discourage the growth of any little germs/bacteria/etc.

About the guache... The gouache you have is a zink white which is using to mix with other colours to light them a bit but not change they body (this is the reason why it's more transparent). For your style of using you need to look for permanent white or titanium white specifically. It's the same idea in watercolour. Chinese white is most transparent but you also can buy permanent white watercolour from Sennelier from example. Thanks for your video. Was pleasure to watch and listen!

Great video! Honestly a "regret" video often has more useful information than a "haul" video - it often shows pros and cons which is increasingly rare nowadays!

Blender pens don't actually blend, they are designed to lighten or remove colour, so companies calling them blenders are a bit misleading to be honest. Really they should be called erasers to be more accurate about they're actual function.

Thank you for sharing this information about the blender marker. Super useful 👍

I find the hit and miss of sharpeners frustrating. I have never found one I truly like and is good quality. You can clean plastic palettes with an eraser which subsequently becomes irritating, too. Most of these things you find out only by using them and learning your likes and dislikes but it would be nicer if one didn't have to spend so much to find out.

Yes, I agree. I think that finding products that really work and that you love can take a lot of time and the preferences change along the art journey too. Thank you for sharing your thoughts 🙂

I was underwhelmed by the Caran d'Ache white gouache as well. The colors end up quite chalky when mixed with the white. Have you tried the Caran d'Ache palette with a different white gouache? If so, what did you use and did it improve the consistency?
@deboragrosaart6 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing your opinion 🙂 Yes, I tried the Caran D'Ache gouache palette with the Holbein permanent white gouache, and the result was a little bit better because the consistency of the color was smoother. The downside was that I had to add a lot of white to improve the consistency and the opacity, and the colors ended up to be very light/desaturated.

you could try the bullet sharpener, it has a thicker blade, I don't remember which company makes it, but everyone says they won't change it after they got one. Markers in general sjoild be stored horizontally, I do not know if this was the issue, and the blender almost never blends, no matter which marker you use, only wipes or from light colours to white. Thank you for the video!

Thank you for a useful and very nice video. And yes I have the shapener as well. I only use it for my everyday pencils that I use for writing notes. I have also tried the sharpener on my color pencils. I only used the sharpener once as it did not work the way I wanted it to. For everyday pencils though it is very good. As for the brand Crelando I tried some other things and somehow it did not work for me. Of course this is only my personal experience and there might be people who loves the items where I have had problems. Once again, thank you very much for telling about things that you regret having bought 😘

Are you heating up the tape before you remove it from your paper?

No, I don't because I have never had that problem with the other papers that I own, but I think I will start doing it when I use this specific paper. Thanks for the tip 🙂

I feel the same way about the Caran d'Ache gouache. It is simply not opaque enough. Da Vinci gouache doesn't contain any opacifiers in its colors but it offers a highly opaque Titanium White. I don't see any point in labeling white paint as gouache when it is that transparent. To use up my Caran d'Ache gouache I'm mixing it with Holbein white.

Yes, I am doing the same to finish the Caran D'Ache white gouache.

Thanks for this video! I was about to purchase the Kuretake water brushes. About the SML watercolor pad I've had a bad experience as well, although not exactly the same. It's very hard to be successful with washes, the paint doesn't move easily, paper dries quickly and bulks. Colors don't look bright once dry, and got the same problem with tape tearing the paper. The worst paper I've ever tried. I find plastic palettes useful for acrylic craft paints only.

As told SMLT papers are vey cheap and thus you cannot expect much of them. Suitable for training brushes strokes and colour mixing etc.
