You can also refill your “disposable” finepoint pens (like Pigma Micron) if the nib is still good… just use tweezers to pull the nib, and syringe in some Indian/Bombay ink…. Which is both cheap … and waterproof!

That's also the reason why I rarely buy larger sets, I don't need many colors in there and I need others. I think it's easier for me to first exclude all mixed colors from my selection and focus on the single-pigment tones.

My local art store told me that Prismacolor is no longer going to be sold in open stock so your only option will be buying sets. This was very disappointing to hear so I am switching to Polychromos which still sells in open stock.

No no. That’s not true. It’s the markers and the verithins! The pencils are going to keep being open stock

@@melissag6246 I just checked with my local art store again and I was told she deals directly with the company representative and open stock for prismacolor premier is stopped. She might be able to order some of the less popular ones that they still have in stock but otherwise she cannot order any others, like white and black are completely out of stock.

i order online from Cheap Joes in the US, they have lots of samples of paper and the dot cards too.

I downsized my mess of bad buys over the years and donated the still good items to other artists still new to painting. They were pleased and my art supplies are only things I will actually use. New painters on a budget are excited with ten tubes of less loved colors! 19:19

Yes, I do the same periodically. I try to avoid keeping art supplies that I don't use 👍

I think a good way is to buy a mixing set with three colors that act as primary colors to start with, to try out whether you like the medium itself and use that as a starting point for your own palette.

Moi! Thank you for good tips, using half of them already. Which shop in Helsinki you go to, Tempera? Or are there new ones? I am moving back soon after 20 years, so I am a bit lost

Moi! One of my favorite art shops is Arteljee. It is not too far from Tempera, but it has a better selection of products, in my opinion. It's worth definitely a visit.

Actually you need only the three primary colours plus black and on purpose white, and you be able to mix almoust any colour you need.

No need for black, it can be mixed easily. Best to have a split primary to make the most shades, so 6 colours and white depending on the medium.
