One of the best parts of this movie is the director knowing how to do deadpan style flat shot comedy like this to set against the absurd gore and violence. It sort of reminds you not to take the movie too seriously it's all goofy halloween fun it's not real.

I agree that it works well juxtaposed with the horror but it does not make me take the movie any less seriously as the levity it lends for only a fleeting moment only makes the whole thing seem MORE genuine to me.

yeah the humor in this reminds me about "psycho goreman" alltho this is a better movie even tho i enjoy both. Its mostly just the 80's vibe and the great practical effects. Cant wait for part 3 this year.

Art is the perfect villain because he’s also the comic relief character. I’ve watched him brutally murder someone in the most grotesque, gory ways, and 5 minutes later he’s a non-serious goofball that makes me laugh. Especially after Allie’s brutal murder and her mom, the slapping of the kid’s hand from the “candy bowl” and gesturing “Only one!” made me giggle. He’s becoming one of my favorite slasher characters, and I absolutely love that his actor is the polar opposite of him and is just the biggest sweetheart.
